I'm thinking about getting an 80 gig ipod and I wanted to know from you ipod owners how long of a charge does your ipod hold? Would you also include what kind of ipod you own? Thanks.

I have a 4 GB 3rd-gen Nano (the cheapest iPod you can get besides the Shuffle), and it usually lasts me about ten hours.

I had about 700 songs and a couple videos on my iPod video and it stayed charged for about four minutes and that was less than one year after i got it.. Maybe it was just mine that was so horrible. I think they are supposed to stay charged for hours.

The battery's maximum lifespan will get progressively shorter with each recharge....well at least that's happened to me with older versions of iPod.

So if I bought an 80 gig ipod, I should only expect it to work for 8 hours at most?

About that. They claim 12 but it's nowhere near that. The only iPod with a great battery life is the second gen Nano, which is happy to get upwards of 20 hours.

Ipod batteries only last about 18 months. Their capacity gradualy lowers with each charge and after about 18 months they last like 10min.

My iPod Touch holds a charge for like 12 hours of straight music playing if you let the screen hibernate for most of that time. It only handles like 4 hours of video, though...
