Internet Porn Addiction Leads to Impotence

According to this article, addiction to internet porn can lead to an inability or difficulty becoming aroused when engaging in real life sex. The cause is desensitization of the brain's response to dopamine due to over-stimulation. Unlike previous generations, many young men of today's generation suffer from this problem, and some of them even think it's normal and are unaware that the cause is their internet porn addiction.

Porn Induced Erectile Dysfunction, the condition described in the OP, leads to sexual frustration and sexual depression. So, I wouldn't say it's better.

As they become more and more desensitized, they need to watch more intense/ more hardcore porn to get the same level of excitement they got from the less intense/ less hardcore porn. Eventually, they hit a plateau where practically nothing does anything for them.

I think this problem is exclusive to guys who are literally addicted to porn (i.e. they watch it and masturbate to it daily), and don't have much of a social life.

That article is from October 2011. I can't find the original study. The article mentions that Psychology Today is a respected journal but of all the articles I saw non had references.

There are online communities of people who suffer from this condition, so it's real.
