lots of blacks own more illegal guns that whites and most of them hate white people. the study says so therefore it must be true.

The humerus bone is the most racist bone in the body, it causes people to make racist jokes or to laugh at such jokes.

I knew something like this was eventually going to come out. This is how the study goes... White person buys gun for protection. The protection being that someone is trying to break the law and cause harm to said person that owns gun. Whites account for roughly 18-20% of violent crime committed in the US. Blacks and Hispanic combined account for nearly 70%+.. Study finds owning gun is racially influenced.

Ill admit it, when I bought a gun, it could have been argued that my purchase was racially influenced. A black guy was stalking my wife and a neighbor told me they saw the guy standing outside our bedroom porch one night. After numerous calls to the police and their awesome 30+ minute response time I bought a gun and stayed up one night. Luck would have it the guy showed up and I caught him standing on my porch outside my bedroom... The look of "I immediately regret my actions" came over him. Long of the short, after I told him not to come back he didnt... no one got hurt and the worst of it was he probably had to change his pants and living with the feeling he almost lost his life. More importantly, problem solved.

Point of the story is that regardless of what the guys race was my actions would have been the same. Its not my fault the guy happened to be black, but since he was it is argued by the far left that my actions could have and probably were racially influenced because I am white.

I sometimes feel studies like this only make it harder to actually solve or at least discuss the problems that are implied, especially when it comes to public debates on the internet. I'm not saying the ultimate goal is to mutually agree, but all a study like this does is confirm the negative views two opposite parties have of each other.

Makes sense. Problem is, it's far easier to take away your gun than it is to change your mind.

It's a correlation that's been demonstrated literally hundreds of times. And in point of fact, people who smoke pot *are* more likely to be liberal.

Well thats probably true, not the slacker part. The pothead part. Since liberals tend to support legalization more.

Seems like a pointless study regardless of its accuracy. Even if the study is accurate and racism really is correlated with gun ownership, who cares? What good does such a study do, besides allowing for more trivia questions?

Assuming someone is racist just because they own a gun is essentially an act of prejudgment (aka prejudice).

As someone that has lived 30 years gun free, i dont understand why people need guns for their freedom.

However the people that need guns to protect their freedom, seem to live in all white rural locations. And they seem to hate minorities.

I guess it's the point that's it's a right, and not a privileged in our country. So people are very patriotic in regards to their bill of rights.

No one needs a .50 caliber rifle, or a RPG-7 - but it's not the "bill of needs".

As for the whole race war thing; white people don't need guns to eliminate blacks when black on black crime is constantly increasing.

Because it doesn't seem right with what I've observed. Believe it or not.....people that don't own firearms can be and are racist. Though what the term racist means in this study is anyone's guess.

I think they went into this study with a preconceived idea and used what supported that idea.

That's a broad generalization though.

And people have guns for other reasons that "protecting their freedom", such as protecting themselves and their family or for hunting.
