Giving the teachers more power.

Have them kick out distrubtive stuidents.

Have the salaries fluxuate depending on the skill and quality of the teacher and his/her teachings.

Anything else?

Pay janitors more. Make it a desired job by it's pay, that way the public toilets won't be such a nightmare to use.

Let's execute the failures. As far as I'm concerned, they're a waste of resources.

Just in general copy the college approach....

-Treat education as a privilege, not a right(be an @&&, get kicked out of school & no diploma for you)

-More teacher freedom in education.(it is their corse, not copy paste state guideline *****)

-no standardised school assessment test that becomes the whole bloody curriculum so the school looks good.

-don't cross clas s curriculums(stop making me waste time writing a bloody english essay in my calculus clas s, LEAVE IT IN ENGLISH!!!)

Let teachers have more freedom. The best teachers I have don't follow the book.

There are far too many complex problems with the American education system to have one easy fix... In fact most problems that a government faces are like that... which is why the elections' process in this country are stupid.

Stop telling kids they can be whatever they want to be, it's BS. Focus more on the trades. Teach kids how to do real-world stuff like balancing a check book, creating a budget, changing your oil, fixing a burst pipe, etc..thegerg
I agree somewhat, I find it funny grown ass men can't figure out how to change a tire.

And to all of you saying "Just kick out the bad ones", where do you suggest they go? I have a friend who TRYS to teach special education, but they put so many behavior kids in his classes that he cannot really give the mentally handicapped kids as much attention as they deserve and need.

To the ones saying "Just kick them out of school", think about this... what are they going to do when they are not in school for those 8 hours? Unless we just go ahead and kill them, or incarcerate them, these people are probably going to cause society as a whole more damage when they are out of school. Turning people who need help the most away is just about the dumbest idea I've ever heard

That already happens. Back when I was in HS, I would get kicked out of class all the time as would anyone else who talked too much, etc.

Cater to individual learning styles and provide more opportunities for trade education. People learn in different ways. Funneling everyone into the sit and listen routine doesn't work. Provide a more unstructured environment. When the teachers seem bored with the routine you know the students are. Secondly, provide everyone with an opportunity to learn a trade and put more of an emphasis on learning a trade. The stereotype around the kids in my school that went to a trade school for half the school day was so bad that you didn't want to try it out. They were the "stupid" kids and as a 13 year old kid you don't want to have any negative connotation associated with you. Even if you don't make a career out of it you still have life skills that can save you lots of money and give you a basic understanding of various real world components.
