I was in the army office today I wanted to go alone, but my dad made me let him go. We was in there and he told them I was going to join and they said I was going to be in combat!

I have no idea what you're talking about so please make some sense. Also if it's US army, I call shenanigans. Although I'm not in the military, I know for a fact that no US military recruiter can force any prospect to join. It's all volunteer until the big one happens.

American soldiers hardly ever die in combat in Afghanistan so you don't have to worry about it. I don't see anywhere else a normal trooper can go where there is combat. The Phillipines and Iraq are just filled with special ops and advisors.

Dude won't kill you though.  Bullets will.

I've encountered a very similar problem.  A friend of mine in high school.  Him and his father practically dedicated their life toward military service.  His son, a fellow classmate of mine, came to me with the problem that he wished to pursue something other than military, and maybe focus on a musicians course for the time being.  He came to me with this specific problem, and this is exactly what I told him: "Your father loves you, and always will.  No matter your decision, make it for yourself, and understand he will always have your back."

Now, I had actually met his father.  So ask yourself, will father always give you his love and support?

Thanks for the advice man, but he will chew me out if I don't call me a coward and all can of junk. maybe even kick me out.

He wants you to be strong.  Show him how strong you are.  Stand up to him.  I'm sure you have family members or friends that will support you if he actually does decide to kick you out.

Actually I don't ....

Ok assuming any of this actually happened... the chances of you seeing combat are extremely low right now. You would have to go through basic, pass all of the tests, be assigned to a unit that would get deployed, and then somehow land in Afghanistan before 2014. Then you would maybe see an ounce of combat that you have a 99% chance of surviving.

Did you sign something? If so, tough sh!t. Should have stuck up for yourself. If not, don't worry. Your dad can't just sign you up for the army. Doesn't work like that.

Stop being a wuss and do your nation and your dad proud. The only way to do this is by killing desert brown people. It's either you or them... don't you think Abdul's Muhammed Jihad's dad has the same expecations for his son? If you give up now, america losses, and we'll all hate you.

Hah! He actually thinks that the US will be at peace by next year!

War with Iran looms on the horizon, and Africom is deploying military personnel throughout Africa, albeit in small numbers for now.

The Empire's dedication to the maintenance of hegemony through force of arms will ensure that it remains in a state of perpetual war, so it's by no means improbable that the current intakes of new recruits will see combat sooner or later.

Neo-imperialism all but demands that the proles put their lives on the line.

I was 18 and a buddy of mine begged me to join the Army with him. He'd come into the gas station where I worked and bugged me everyday. "Join the army with me, we'll go in on the buddy system!!"

A year later he was dead, he died in Afghanistan.
