Hi guys, I need a new Graphing Calculator but am unsure as to what company to go with. I will probably be taking statistics next year but still don't know which of these two calculators would be better. I'm looking at this one and this one. Anyone have any input on this matter?

TI since most of the TI calculators are approved for the SAT/ACT (which should be important to you if you are still in high school).

I've checked and the Casio is also approved for all the tests.

Didn't know that. I'd say still opt for the TI since there's a bigger app development community for it, if that's something important to you.

I was an accounting major up until my third year then had an epiphany and switched to Marketing. Had a lot of business and number related classes all through out my college years.

I love it. High risk high reward. It's not for everyone. And it is not just sales either. I've done PR and now work at a talent agency. Still work with a lot of the big commercial companies/ad campaign geniuses.

TI-89, by far. Might cost a pretty penny, but you will use it ALL through HS, and ALL through college, and people will be begging to borrow it when they find out what it can do with factoring, integrals, and differentials. I got an a in University-level Calculus, all due to my baby.

TI for the most part. Just about every class I've taken that requires a graphing calculator recommends TI. Teachers/professors I've had are mostly familiar with TIs.

Right now in Calculus the TI-84 is doing just fine, I would recommend it. Sounds like the TI-89 is even a step up from that!

In my university courses, graphing calculators are allowed in exams. Some professors erase your memory in case you may be putting cheat sheets in the calculator prior to the exam, many others don't do such things. On exams, work has to be shown on the test sheet. So just answers from the calculator don't get you full credit.

Well, for any course which requires a calculator, most professors wont allow it. That makes me jealous, I could have done much better on my calc final last semester :P

University of Alberta. They also want to hike tuition up again to cover their deficit.

Have a Ti inspire and I currently hate it, its rediculously overcomplicated and impossible to use. TI 89 looks fine though.

That's probably because of the price, TIs tend to be very expensive.... Anyway from my experiance i'ld say get the TI if you can afford it.

Just get a basic TI-83 or 84. If you need an 89 to do differentiation and integration, then you aren't smart enough to be taking those courses. Not like you need a calculator in calculus classes anyway...

Get the TI 89. It only costs a bit more than the 83 or 84 and it can do much much more.

Texas Instruments. I'd get a TI-84 because it'll do everything you want it to do. Also, if you're going to a good university, you won't let you use a calculator anyways.
