A few of my friends have great luck with Tinder; nothing lasts, but it's good for hooking up. Provided you don't look for anything meaningful in a relationship stemming from Tinder, I'd say go for it.

Just make sure you look good and smell good. That doesn't mean a buckets of gel or too much deodorant, if you use perfume , be carefull, not to much.

and do some sports. You don't have to look like a bodybuilder but a bit of musce tone always helps.

I don't know anything about approaching women in life to meet. If you're interested in online dating, then there's some decent places that let you do most things for free. Plenty of fish and OkCupid seem like the best ones to me. I've gotten better at starting conversations (as a guy you have to start the conversation like 99% of the time) and slightly better at holding them. I haven't met up with anyone I've talked to online. Of course I also haven't asked to, I don't know how long is a reasonable time to chat with someone online before attempting to go on a date. So I dunno, good luck. Just watch out for spam accounts.
