Good god, do you people have your entire movie collections ripped to your hard drive or something?

I've barely broken 100GB.

Bio_Spark
That's usually the reason I've found. Everyone I know that has over 1 TB used up has ripped (or downloaded) their entire movie collection for some reason.

I much rather that way then using the discs, reduces storage and they don't have to get scratched :)

I guess that makes sense. That's why I've been using Steam for so long.

That would be the way to go since any harddrive over 2TB is far to expensive.

It seems like if you want to go above 1.5TB, you sacrifice speed. Don't like it. I'd rather spend more money to get more storage ;)

Are bigger harddrives slower?, the thing is I like to have all my files on the one harddrive not scattered around.

Currently, most 2TB drives I've seen have been about 5400RPM. My 1.5TB is 7200RPM with a 32MB cache, so it's decently quick.

About 2TB on my main computer and NAS. If I include my other two and secondary backup drive, it might be closer to 3TB of used space.

I have a 90 gigabyte hard drive. I had to delete something to make room for my last large download. Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

Just under 130GB, mainly photos and music. If I was to back-up my TV-on-DVD collection I would need a new hard drive (currently got 500GB of space)

Quite the opposite, actually. Bigger drives generally have a higher platter density, which results in better performance.

I feel old school with my 250 GB harddrive. :P

I wouldn't be surprised if there are 3 and 4 TB drives on the market when I go to buy a new one. In fact, I'll be surprised if there aren't.

People seem to make the size of their HD work for them. If you've only got 250 gigs, you're sure to delete what you don't need and keep the drive organized, so it seems like it's enough to do the job (though I'm kind of feeling it now since I download a lot of media). Conversely, if you've got a TB drive, you don't spend much time deleting unnecessary files, and it seems to add up quickly.

One of my laptop hard drives is 94.1GB. I have 17.8GB remaining. I've got 76.3GB of files. Not that much really. I still have a second hard drive for my laptop as well, which is an extra 46GB.
