regular service is the key with newer cars. get the oil/fluids changed often, and if you notice anything that's slightly off, get is checked out right away. find a real mechanic (not one of those minute lube places) to take care of any major work. you'll save money in the long run, and get better service/advice.

it depends on the car though. the ones i buy seem to last for about 12 - 20 blocks.

you can expect minor repairs within a few years, but if you treat it right, you should have it until you decide to upgrade.

hondas can go a long time before breaking down. 150,000-200,000 is my guess

If you take care of it (change the oil when you're supposed to, check filters, etc.) it should last for quite a while. My Grandpa has a Buick Century with well over 125,000 miles.

any car that isn't cheap should last at LEAST 160,000-200,000 miles before it completely dies... at least IMO. granted, your car will be a piece of crap by then.

oh, and set aside a little money each month if you can. sort of a "vehicle slush fund", so that when that repair comes up (and it will) you'll have the money to deal with it. saves a lot of stress. i found that about $1000 was enough most of the time, and if something major happens, like getting broken into, that money will cover your detuctibles.

Look in the manual and have the suggested service done as often as it says to do it. If you don't, good luck...

In general if you get your regular service done with a Honda you should be in luck. My Honda is 13 years old, NOTHING as broken on it yet. I just do what the manual says and I'vehad zero issues.

1. Its a Honda, it will last you for a looooooong time

2. If you keep it oiled and watch other fluid levels, and get it serviced periodically, it wont break down on you. Period.

Take care of your car, and it will take care of you

Like everyone else said, if you keep up on the maintenance it'll last a long time. My car passed 228000 miles recently and its still going just fine.

yep.

Just remember...when the "need oil" light comes on, it is too late. Take preventative measures, not reactionary.

As for specifics, I dont know how frequently you need to get your car checked.

Ive got a 1995 Jeep Cherokee...I check the oil every month, change it every 6-7k miles. Its got 158k miles on it, and the engine is the best thing on it. Inside is falling apart, but the engine...she be strong!

It depends on how well you take care of the car.

I have a 1995 Chevy Yukon with 230,000 miles on it, and it still runs just fine.
