It depends on your exercise regiment, your intake of calories, the right balance of your daily vitamins and minerals.

ive been fat since... starcraft was released (and i choose to ignore any correlation between an increase in weight and the release of starcraft).

Well, the longer you've had the weight, the more difficult it will be for you to burn it. If you don't starve yourself, and excersize moderately after you've eaten, i would say a couple of months at least. I may be wrong, but that's my guess.

A good amount to lose a week is only about 1 - 2 pounds. That way you're not losing too much muscle mass as well.

People need to stop trying to "lose weight," you should be excercising 5 times a week for at least 30 minutes (that includes simple things like mowing the lawn and such) as that is how you should live. If you do this, you won't care what weight you are because you will be fit, healthy and able to perform all tasks without becoming exhausted. Excercise boosts endorphins in your brain (think crack but in a good way) which reduces depression and a need to feel like you need to lose weight. Our society is so much like, i will eat and eat and omg i just put on 10 lbs. Diet time.

Unless you are way overweight, if you lose 1-2 pounds per week, thenthe weighthas a higher potential for staying off.

over the course of 10 months, i lost about 50 lbs. my diet and exercise were pretty slack. just cut back on pop, and food in general in fact, i went 6 months not drinking pop. and then i had a coke and it made me sick, haha, the carbonation and what not. but when i had a pepsi it was seriousy the most delicious thing i had ever tasted.

I'm tyring to gain weight actually. Four weeks ago I weighed 96 pounds and now I weigh 103. Hellz to the yeah :P

By the way, on an exercise note, what are good ways to work the abs. Crunches and such feel like they take too long before I feel any burn.

Its taken me around 5 months to lose 13 pounds, but I haven't changed my diet drastically.
