Nothing irritates me more while driving than someone driving slower than the speed limit - especially if they are in the fast lane. With the standard exceptions such as residential, school, construction (where I drive the limit), I normally set my speed at 5 mph (8 kph) over. What say you, OT? How fast or slow do you drive versus a posted limit?

I try to drive the exact limit. Driving to slow is annoying to people and to fast gets you a ticket.

Back when I drove a Corvette, I was usually 10-15 over. Now I drive a truck and I usually stick to the speed limit or within 5. I can't swing the speeding tickets anymore.

Generally around 5mph over.

Though it seems most people like to go 15 mph over and are always tailgating. Annoying.

I'm usually within 5 and yes. I'd just rather not risk it and with the truck I don't feel the need to go more than 5 over. :P

Depends on the road.. If its one with a 40 to 50mph limit or higher.. I will drive 5 over like every one else does.

Generally on the highway, I go 5 over. In bad weather conditions, or in construction areas (esp. during highway reconstruction areas where the close one direction of the highway, and force both directions on one road) I go the posted speed limit. There are a lot of things that piss me off when I am driving, one is people going under the speed limit in the left lane. It's one thing to go slow in the right lane, because I can pass using the left lane. But people who go slow in the left lane make me extremely angry.

On local roads, I go the speed the limit. (or at least attempt to)

It must have been hard to not have a Vette after owning one. I missed having a car with a beefy V-8, that's why I have a 300C Hemi right now (1 HP per cubic inch).:D

I've had two...don't miss them at all. They are a lot of fun but just not practical enough for me for daily driving. Looking back, I wish I had saved the money and just go the truck sooner.

If I'm in a residential area (limit is 30/35 mph), I go the limit or 5 over, but on the highway I go as fast as traffic.

anywhere i'm driving that don't know or i know poilce hot spots. i drive about 5 miles over speed limit. The only your going get in trouble for doing 5 over speed limit if the pig that pulls you over is a complete ass. but cops know doing 5 is completely nothing and not worth it the paper work.

BUT when i go to work in morning (5am) or anywhere i know i can get away with it. i usually go about 20 over the limit. What ever i do i never go over 30 because after 30 thats when they can take your licence away right there. I'm very bad lol there was only one time i went over that 30 mark. it was when i took road trip for the day. before i knew it was close to 3 am. i had be at work at 5am and i was little over 2hr drive back. so was doing 100 the whole way back. lucky i was in Kentucky(cops really don't care on the most part as long as your a passing lane). Shoot there was one time i got pulled over for doing the speed limit in KY not kidding

Yeah, I've got a ton of respect for officers but I've run into some of the bad ones. I even had these two officers that lied that I ran a stop sign (even though they were right in front of the stop with their lights going in plain site). They then spend the next half hour suggesting I stole the car and then went on a rant about how I didn't keep the damn car clean enough for them. Luckily they were so stupid they didn't even get the street right so the ticket was dropped.

Either under or exactly on. I don't like tickets, and if someone doesn't like how slow I'm driving, they can pass me. Chances are, I'll be seeing them at the next light anyways, and they'll be fully stopped and I can just roll through, passing them in the process. Its the ultimate on-the-road trolling, and I don't even mean to do it.

I try to drive the speed limit at all times. Exceptions include when just entering/exiting a different speed limit area (like where the 100 km/h highway drops down to 80, it takes me a while to slow down to speed as I am avoiding slowing down too quickly and causing an accident behind me) or on hills, I often get going too fast on hills (small ones) and don't really want to ride my brakes all the way down. Sometimes I drive under, especially at night on the highway because there are deer and stuff that run out, but people don't seem to get it and get really mad about it.

Glad to hear you got out of that one.:) Too bad you didn't have a way to record that, it would have made a heck of a YouTube video, since you won. They were really reaching with that clean car stuff and running a stop sign.

Worst I ever did was 120 in a 70 on an Interstate straightaway (with no traffic). There was an officer on the other side, but I slowed down really quick. I still don't know why he didn't come after me, maybe he didn't swing his radar over in time.:P

So true.. I never understood people either who are whizzing past and continue to go their speed when clearly there is a red light ahead that even if it were to go green at that moment, you will still need to stop.. Instead of coasting they haul on the breaks when they get close enough.

Below 75 mph: 5 mph over and then put the car in cruise control.

At 75 mph: I normally leave it at 75 mph.

If I'm ticked off, I just floor the thing.

If someone ahead of me is doing the speed limit, I'll stick with the speed limit.

If someone ahead of me is going slower than the speed limit, I'll overtake.

Generally I stay at or slightly above the speed limit(5MPH). When I drive my chevelle I always floor it at a green light and then just cruise, I have well over 500 horses I need to use them once in a while :P

Edit- I can't wait for the day a teenager gets next to me at a red light with his music blasting :D

That happened to me and 6 other cars along westbound I-80 near Auburn, CA back in the mid-90's. I had Nevada plates. The rest had CA plates. Technically, I should've been hauled off to jail because we were all going past 120 mph. CHP gave me a ticket for 75 mph and let me go first. The other 6 cars, I'm not sure. But, the driver of an IROC-Z was gesturing it's his 3rd time.

I usually drive as fast as the speed limit allows me to, without going more than a 2-3km/h over. However if there is traffic, I'll follow the flow in traffic.

Don't have a car currently but I'm always speeding. I can't help myself. It's dangerous though and I really shouldn't.

I dislike drivers going at 20 mph in a 30mph zone and stuff like that. Pisses me off.
