I'm curious. Who comes up with the figure that people will sue for? Especially the large and seemingly ridiculous ones.
For example: There's an ongoing case here in Aus where a 25 year old lady is suing David Jones (company)its former CEO for over $37 million dollars. This is a sexual harrasment claim and the figure is based on 5% of the companies profits....
What I don't get is how they came up with that figure!Assuming you added her salary for the time worked there with ongoing psychological medicalcare.... it's a bucketload of cash! What would she do if she worked at a company that wasn't earning money like David Jones.
I'm not sticking up for the big company here, obviously what went on was wrong but I'm just wondering if anyone knows how they come upwith the amounts they sue for?
