How do I end this conversation?

I think this girl is trying to get me to ask her to prom over facebook. She's cute and all but its awkward because I know her like a friend and shes liked me for awhile. Here's the convo so far:

Me: haha you excited for prom?

Her: eh...

Me: eh?

Her: none of the people who have asked me are people i want to go with they're no fun

Me: who has asked you?

Her: tony melano, justin, a couple guys you don't know

Me: you know you don't HAVE to stay with your date at prom

Her: yeah but those are the kind of guys that would practically force me to

Me: lol just be an **** and ditch them have fun its your night not theirs

Her: all my friends have boyfriends and girlfriends....i wouldn't want to be their third wheel

Me: Dont think of it that way. There's going to be a ton of single dudes at prom looking for a girl like you to have fun with. Dont miss out just cause you dont have a date.

Her: oh well...i don't even care about prom that much...i would only go if i had someone i actually wanted to go with

Me: Who is it you want to go with?

Her: i don't know....just not the people who have asked me

Me:I'm sure someone will ask you.

Her: if not oh well waste of a dress...but it's all good

Me: brb

I would suggest "don't ask her", but that seems like it's sufficiently obvious as to be unfair, really.

Do you plan on going?

I don't see how you could think that she wants you to ask her to prom from that conversation.

You can ask her and still be friends.

Ask her to prom and say that you are going just as friends and you want to protect her from those other guys. (Saw it in movies, seems like something that would work).

First of all, I lol everytime someone brings their girl troubles to OT. Second and more pertinently, I suggest plastic surgery. Become a woman, then you two can become BFF's and this whole prom deal likely won't even be an issue. You two can both stay home and eat peanut butter ice cream and listen to Justin Bieber.

If you liked a girl, worked your way up to asking her to prom, and she said no, would your feelings be hurt?

Not that I think you should have said yes, anyway. You don't like her. Going to the prom with her would just be leading her on. And who would want a pity date, anyway? She'll be fine. I say you did the right thing.
