Is this the only place users flock to now? I made a topic on the general games board about pokemon colosseum, a game from a pretty popular series called pokemon, that no one posted in.

Is this site like, dying in terms of actual conversations and discussions on individual game boards and systems and stuff? What happened to this fallout desolated place.

Indeed. I've met a lot of users and friends on Gamespot, maybe at least a couple dozen, and I'm the remaining poster of them all...

Many of these people had 20k+ posts too. Not to say they all left at the interface update, most left before that, but I will say that this site's traffic took a massive hit with the interface update. It wasn't just an interface update - it was a complete site overhaul. People used to come here for the unions, and other site features. There were tons of micro-communities within the Gamespot community. But those aren't there anymore and people weren't happy about it so they left.

Also, when they made the switch, the site had awful performance and had tons more glitches than it had now. Right now, it's a lot better than it was when the switch was made.

Want to blame someone? I blame Jeff G. If he didn't trash a game from one of Gamespot's higher paying advertisers with his Kane and Lynch review, then the events leading up to this site's overhaul wouldn't have taken place.

I highly doubt any considerable number of the users that still currently frequent the place do so for any thing gaming-related. I myself stopped being an actual gamer some 3 years ago due to various reasons. Anyway, when I used to game on PC, I've always used IGN's PC section for all of my PC gaming needs, along other computer tech sites like tomshardware and 3dguru. GS' PC section has always been abysmal. I find the reviewers and the overall staff to be uber pretentious and inane. Most of the modest number of GS' videos that I watched made me want to bash my head to the wall and to take my guts out of my abdominal cavity and feed them to cats.

I miss the weekly hilarious topics that was frequent 3-4-5 year ago now, it's nothing, a shell of it's former self. Even I don't go post much anymore. I come on here sometimes and just think "what's the point"

Back when OT was hot, threads that were last replied one/two hours ago could end up in the second page. Nowadays, you can see threads last replied almost 2 days ago in the front page.

Sad.

I'll tell you how slow it is, its so slow that there are barely any mods log-in to do their job.

Right now, there is a thread in SW and somebody posted a gif from a porn scene of a girl sucking a dick, and that post is still sitting in that thread for an hour now, and it still hasnt been deleted by a mod.

its still there.

But this isnt the only time when mods have not been around to delete a super inappropriate post or thread, and it sat there on the front page of a forum board before a mod finally was on duty.

But watch me call some one and idiot or a moron, and instantly get moderated and threaten with suspensions.

@Nengo_Flow: It's bothering you so much and yet you can't be assed to report the post so I can see where it is. The user was banned, we checked his feed (it only displays the last few posts) and we deleted all we saw; you do realise we're not payed to be moderators and we're actually halfway through our work days, right? We don't have time to go through every thread and check if he posted there and so we depend on users (apparently not you) who are kind enough to lend us a hand finding that sort of thing.

aw.....

F*** no I dont have to help you out when I've suffered so many suspensions and have been banned from this site 3 times before.

Its not my fault ya'll cant handle what you guys enlisted for. Its not my problem what others users do, i was pointing out the fact how minor things i do (that really shouldnt be an offense) you guys crack me over the head for it, yet people posting porn goes unnoticed for an extended time. Thats what I was refering to, not that the porn post bothered me and I wanted it gone.

I intentionally did not flag it for that very reason, I wanted to see how long it takes you guys to notice on your own. Cuz lately i've been noticing that banned worthy post have been going unnoticed for long periods of times (sometimes half a day or even a whole day). Its not my duty to help you guys out, cuz no matter how good of a user I am and how helpful i may be, i'll still be treated like shit here for dumb reasons.

No. They brought them back.....they didn't add anything either. Or rather some didn't. Some were decent enough. But the site was way busier back in the totalitarian days then it became after they relaxed the rules.

Alot of people left after the rules update and then a bigger batch of users left after the site redesign...Gamepro all over again and System wars is the only active forum and even that is not even active at peak times.

Such a shame but the easing up on the rules was a disastrous mistake in my opinion.

The unbanned users were pretty much a microcosm of the rest of the userbase. They were never going to fundamentally change anything by being unbanned. Good users provide their part of a good community. Many of the unbanned did just that. Like many of those who have never been banned do. Some of the unbanned were disrespectful of the chance. But their actions weren't any worse then what some never banned people have done

Seems a bit slower, I did disappear after the site change but coming back noticing so much that I liked gone, makes it hard to stick around. But since I've been here so many years I can't see myself leaving, it's like home when your parents remodel the house.

You're absolutely right. My apologies. I always think that trying to explain things to users is preferable to ignoring or deleting posts (as many people complained in the past before I joined the ranks), but eventually I end up getting frustrated because I'm still at work, busy as hell, still managing to take a few minutes to check the forums, failing to get through to people and I end up ranting.

I'll try to keep in mind what you said. Thank you for the feedback; mods are just users with a badge, who try to help other users while still enjoying the forums; we're not any more mature or immune to frustrations than anybody else...leading by example is not always easy =)

Ummm....Mods have always argued with users in that fashion. Maybe not as often in the other forums as they would in a place like the Ask the Mod section (If its still around) but its still there. Nothing different here besides MAYBE, if GS was still using the old ToU, this thread would be locked by the mod declaring this thread is going off topic by the argument.

I have the unpopular opinion here by actually liking the new site interface. Search engine is pretty bad here and they need to fix that as soon as possible but other than that I like it!

But it is a shame that people don't flock over here as they use to. I personally keep switching back and forth between this site and GiantBomb forums. (Though, I am much more active on here than on GB)

But I still like the site!

All this is just unreal. I can't even make a topic about community which had 50 views, but none of those 49 thought to post in it? What? Seriously what the hell. Do I intimidate them or something?
