I like a lot of the very early stuff. Just a kid. Parents hated the hip hop movement. It was very akin to the punk scene, in fact id call early rap more "punk" than the copycat punk bands that followed shortly after that initial scene.

To this day though? Ha haaaa. This guy rarely gets mentioned.

Who invented Hip Hop?

As the name of hip-hop suggests, it is primarily music on which you can hop/shake your hips. Of course, the message spreading social awareness in songs never does any harm but sadly nowadays, most of "hip-hop" music has neither of that and like Nas said, hip-hop is DEAD!

I used to think I was the only one who bumps/remembers this version of Pitbull.

On topic:

1. Kendrick

2. J. Cole

3. Outkast

4. Tupac

5. Eminem

6. Big Sean

7. Kanye

8. Nas

9. The Roots

10. Can't think of someone I like enough to put here.

I'm pretty selective with what rap I listen to but I really got into Kendrick for a while. I don't mind The Notorious B.I.G. 2Pac is great of course & I don't mind Future either.

@warmblur: I was never really a huge rap guy but that is a good list, I’d add 2live crew to it as well but that’s just imo
