Hip Hop Heads: Drake vs Pusha t beef.

Any of you guys been following this beef.

Pusha t is a legend and love him or hate him drake is arguably the biggest rapper right now.

Rap beefs are funny. I know when someone pisses me off, I just gotta sing about them. That will show them.

If only they would dance too. Then we would have a full on West Side Story.

It's an interesting development. Following Pusha T, he subtly jabs at artists like Drake on the side for a while before going foll-on. It's juvenile, but can be entertaining.

The portion that makes it interesting is the web that is the music industry. So many of those guys work with the same people (artists and non), and watching the aftermath is good popcorn stuff -- similar to wrestling.

No idea about any of this, but I can't take Drake's style of rap. It doesn't flow at all. Tupac would crap all over it.

It's a work. In wrestling they used it to sell tickets/pay per views.

Who actually cares?!? Its all just for media exposure in the end.

Just about anything and everything about mainstream and most of non-mainstream rap, that is not the actual music, is about publicity and swagger. I doubt this is any different.

Even if it is genuine, it's still bullshit.

I feel you, but pusha t has fired shots at wayne and drake for years. And this has stemmed from a diss drake made towards push in 2016. This is the culmination of a lyrical cold war, especiaslly in an era of rap where beef is not direct anymore(kendrick dropped a song that was obviously a drake diss, and in it claimed rappers were afraid to diss him directly; yet he never directly called out drake in the song).

Agreed, I come from the era of hip hop(80s-90s)when the artists where truly talented and the lyrics had constructive content, they weren't focused on ego and materialism. The only time I listen to the so-called artists of today is when I'm hired to Dj....other then that, I have no idea who's who.

Late 80's rap is where its at. KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, Digital Underground, Slick Rick and Eric B. & Rakim. Back when rap was fun before gangsta came in and took over. Early 90's gave us the Hiero's & Living legends then came the white rennaisance in the late 90's early 2000's with Mac Lethal, Atmosphere and Idea & Abilities to name a few.

Furthermore, if Push's allegations in his most recent diss are true -- Drake is a father to a kid no one knew about. Regardless of the "dramatics" that's pretty real, and very callous if true.

All of drake's albums sales are little under 10M copies combined.

sales of Eminem's Recovery album alone is 15M and Eminem isnt the biggest rapper anymore.

Drake is trash. No idea whos this Pusha though.

Another note:

Modern hip hop beefs are much more isolationist than they used to be. If this was another era, you'd see a whole G.O.O.D. Music vs Young Money/Cash Money fiasco which could entail 10-30 artists, of which both camps have a few million sellers/i.e. relevant artists under their belt.

Instead, most artist from each camp plays/takes avoid the theatrics.

Yes. Only Chicago rappers really stick together for beefs these days. I feel like its because more rappers are doing things online, and have their own self contained entourages; so no need for other rappers to jump in.

Oh yeah, that was definitely the Golden era of TRUE hip hop! I have to say this though, NWA gets a lot of blame for putting hip hop on the path that it's on today, but that's not totally true. They weren't angels, but they did expose what was going on with police brutality and other issues in urban communities. It was the record labels that exploited the issues and made it cool to be a gangsta rapper, criminal, thug, etc ect

Hip Hop basically went corporate because the Porn, Alcohol, Movie and fashion industries jumped on the bandwagon. Most rappers who where positive or at least really talented rarely got signed, because it was more about how the so-called artist projected the negative sterotypes about people who lived in urban environments. Thank goodness for the internet though, because now the true artist can create his or her own platform, they don't have to get backed by labels who are only exploiting garbage.

Yeah I remember when Snoop and Combs had their whole thing going on, they dragged the East and West coasts into it lol. It's like "Woh woh woh guys no need to drag half the country into your bullshit".
