primaries go from delegates, not popular votes. Plus you include Puerto Rico, which is not even counted in the general election.

The general election doesn't go by popular vote either, it uses the electoral college. If it did go by popular vote, we would have had Al Gore back in 2000.

I still think it should go by popular. And at this point in time, I think we'd of been better off. At least our money would've gone to the search for manbearpig.

Yes, Al Gore would have been a much better president. But the same could be said of most of the meat in the deli aisle.

It depends on what metric you use. According to the DNC Obama won the popular vote, look on the website.

2008 Democratic Presidential Primary

info from: Primary versus Caucus by Peniel Cronin (june 1, 2008)

TOTAL ELECTORAL Votes

308 Hillary Clinton

227 Barack Obama

PRIMARIES - accounts for 97% of the Votes Cast

34,553,605 Votes Cast

50.7% Hillary Clinton - 1448 Delegates

49.3% Barack Obama - 1406 Delegates

CAUCUSES - accounts for 3% of the Votes cast

1,057,136 Votes cast

36% Hillary Clinton - 171 Delegates

64% Barack Obama - 323 Delegates

Primaries are State run and Financed, Caucuses are Party run and Financed.

The Democratic Party could not change the actual Certified Vote in Michigan, but, within the Party, they did change the outcome of the Certified Votes by awarding Hillary Clinton Delegates based on her winning 46% of the Vote, or 69 Delegates, then they split those Delegates in half = 34.5 Delegates. Hillary Clinton EARNED 73 Delegate by winning 55.2% of the Vote.

Barack Obama was GIVEN 59 Delegates that he did not EARN, split in half and GIVEN 29.5 Delegates.

August 5,2008 Michigan is Voting for Senator etc and could have a Presidential Primary re-vote.

AND then there's Florida.

That just means all of the "lesser" states liked her more. Right?
