I was once a passenger in a car driven by a black friend. We got pulled over because his registration was expired.

I've dealt with a few cops and they are generally rude and brusque but this cop had an extra edge and unnecessary belligerence to his rudeness toward my friend who was polite and careful in all his movements. This fat white cop asked several times if my friend owned the car, the implication being that he thinks he stole it and he took extra time to run his license and he even called backup.

After it was over, my friend sort of shrugged and said that's driving while black.

Over here Asians are casually referred to as "pakis" and Chinese as "Chinkys". It's racist, but I think the majority of people saying it aren't aware of it,and don't see it as such. Even though, it's quite obviously is.

As far as the police go? Not really. The population isn't diverse enough and the Asain community is generally hard working and far better behaved than your average white chav/ned.

Slight hints of racism here and there. I think most people keep their racism to themselves where I live.

Back in high school, one of my best friends was a D1 college football prospect at running back, ran a legit 4.0 40 time (handheld back then). He's a very dark skinned White guy when tan, you couldn't tell his ethnicity on film. A big name college came to our school one day to meet with him. The coach walked in, shook his hand, and literally said, "Oh, you're White." They stopped recruiting him on the spot, the guy walked out.

I've worked in some of the worst neighborhoods in America, I've experienced plenty of racism. Had several people say "a White man shouln't be here." I've also been treated by and gotten along VERY well with others in the same neighborhood. Just depends on the individual.

Worked at a few places where the people that ran the place would absolutely not let us do our job without an armed escort. They said we would likely get shot.

Not really sure if that can be defined as racism. Being unnecessarily belligerent isn't being racist, unless we know how that cop would treat a white person in exactly the same situation.

Having said that, I've seen racism and experienced it too. Racism is very common in the part of Sweden that I live in. I saw a parent spit at the feet of a Syrian mother who came to pick her child up, and tell her to go home and take her kid with her. I shouted at him, and he turned his back and muttered something about me not having the right to tell him what to do in his own country - I'm English.

A group of us were refused entry into a string of bars in Japan when the bouncers told us "No gaijin" which means foreigners.

Don't think we'll ever truly get rid of racism, because it derives from fear, ignorance and poor education.... Education is the key.

Yes, I think the media plays a big part in racism. The media tells people what to think and how to think. Then, people become unintentionally racists. It creates a problem and people start segregating because of it. Like for instance, A person from eastern Europe might get treated better from a person than from Nigeria. Because the eastern Europe person looks like your typical white person.(Having an accent also plays a big role)

@uninspiredcup: The big cities (e.g. London, Manchester, Birmingham, etc.) are very diverse and multicultural. But outside of the big cities, the smaller towns and villages are largely homogeneous.

Of course I seen, heard and experienced it. Who the hell hasn't? But in western Canada and most of the eastern, not rampant like a lot of other countries in the world. The U.S seems to let racism control their every day life.

Now and again when I was in school. Mainly got called racial words thrown at me. The area I lived in was predominately white. I was fortunate that I never got into a fight in school.

When I faced racism and bullying in school, it has made me fearful of chavs. This meant that I was afraid of walking down the streets or roads in my area, as there were chavs lurking around making me an easy target - it happened one time.

I live in Puerto Rico. To sum things up, my best girl friend is white blue eyes - my best male friend is chinese. My boyfriend looks Arab. I'm black. Honestly, here's way too mixed. I've never encountered racism, and in fact 98% of Puerto Ricans are probably the most tolerant people in terms of race since we're so mixed together.

However, I did go to Poland a month ago and I can say that I semi-encountered racism. But it was few and far between, compared to the vast amount of love I got. I don't think I've ever gotten laid so many times in my life. In the case of Poland it's expected when they're very much white as white can be. But young people are slightly changing.

Oddly enough, I remember in just the second day I was visiting the south of Florida, I encountered some group of rednecks just looking at me and mumbling the N* word. I've visited over 35+ countries in my 25 years alive, some Eastern European anti-immigration, and I can say, the U.S south is probably the most racist I've ever been to. I have plenty of other tales.

You mean the Americans? No, they were sitting like a couple of meters from me. I was in a lake with my family (oddly enough, they are all white or tan, I was the only black one). They kept looking at me and mumbling. My family noticed but just ignored them.

Honestly, I don't really mind it. I just thought it was really ignorant.

Yes. I grew up as a "Haole" (white person, foreigner) in Maui, Hawaii, lived there for 25 years. To anyone familiar with Hawaii's past and the overthrowing of the Monarchy in the 19th century, there remains a large degree of animosity and resentment amongst the local population towards whites. Most are friendly and show aloha when you get older, but during my time there (especially in grade/high school) racism was pretty heavy.

Was at a public pool with my asian friend. We were probably like 10 or so. We were walking and a small group of people walk past us and one of them looks at my friend and says "ching chong" in a mocking tone. I want to say the guy was quite a bit older than us, either a teenager or young adult. Seems like that pool attracted a lot of shitty people for some reason.

No, since here in Serbia we are pretty much all white. But I did see nationalism, which I think requires a special kind of stupidity, as you divide people to "us" and "them" while they are literally the same, they look the same, they talk the same, their dicks are the same size...

I overheard "Must have left the monkey at the airport" coming from a white retirement age couple in reference to a nearby black guy and his three or four year old daughter. It was at a store I was working at so sadly my balls were tied, otherwise I might have said something.

@tryitJust walk into any mixed race high school lunch room and it should be fairly obvious who is sitting with who

This is what I was going to say. It doesn't happen in primary school but in my secondary school ethic groups did not mix with white children. That was indian Hindi, Pakistani Muslim and Jamaican Carribean. No one else could be friends with those people and they weren't friends with anyone else. If you were mixed race you could half be in a group but ethnic purity seemed to be favoured by the Jamaicans.

I blame the parents. They are from less diverse or well developed countries who are not as receptive to foreign cultures as native brits say, who are used to seeing lots of different races due to London being such an important international trading city, which rubs off on the children.

This isn't all the children, but cultural groups tend to gravitate towards each other naturally if not actively shun outsiders.

That is not so much ideological racism as cultural though and the two need to be separated as the second is something learnt from respected adult peer filling their head with sh*t. The former is a conscious decision to single out this individual using race as an excuse to humiliate him or her.

Case in point, my best friend using Hardeep's top-knot bun as a gear stick as I stood by feeling like a nazi collaborator and just felt how senselessly evil my friend was/is.

If you take off the masks of an antifa protestor, they’re mostly white. And if collect them in a room, it would look like a clan rally.

My husband's step dad is a closet racist. He uses excuses like government issues on immigration to cover up the fact he doesn't like anyone of colour or different nation to be near him. Arse hole.

He's also a sexist and a homophobic git. Although he would say he knows lots of gay people (isn't how that conversation always starts off..?)..

that right there is evidence of unaware racism.

why is it just the ethic groups not mixing with white? why is it not 'whites did not mix well with the ethic'?

regardless the point is, when The Right plays that painfully obvious, super transparent tactic of basically say 'see you are a racist too' it just bores me to tears because it doesnt matter, most everyone is a racist, that is not the question, the question is what do you DO about it.

do you lie to others about it? do you physically restrict others from the same access? these are the questions that matter, not 'are you racist! hey look I gotcha! your momma too! na na na bo bo!'

Tons of racism in Canada.

Native people hate whites here. We get told “to go back to europe”, “we are evil” and some other highly offensive words I will not type out.

I saw a group of black people get ejected from a public space (by a black person no less) because "they were over the maximum number of people" even though I'd seen public groups with far more people there many times.

One of my roomate's friends went on a drunken, n-word filled rampage about how he hates black people.

One of the people I used to eat with went on a rant in the middle of a college dining hall about how white people can be the n-word, too.

The police used to show up to every single gathering organized by a black organization on campus.

The local police covered up the murder of a non-white individual at my campus.

One of the people I used to eat with gave a Nazi salute in the middle of a college dining hall.

A customer got angry with an Indian co-worker of mine and started doing an Apu impression.

Several customers complained about one of my co-worker's head covering, with at least one that I can remember saying they didn't want to be served by her.

One customer loudly exclaimed, when I showed her where her product was, that she didn't want to go down that aisle because a black person was in it.

Someone I used to play games online with decided to start using racial slurs casually.

One of my old friends yelled out the n-word, thinking his car windows were up, when they were down and there was a young black kid nearby.

I saw the cops throw an autistic black man in a jail cell, for a registration violation that already was costing him $500 plus towing, and make him stay there until they could get a hold of one of his family members and have her drive from clear across the city during rush hour with bail, without ever consulting a mental health professional.

I was in a chat group where several people decided that casually using the n-word was a good larf.

One of my bosses openly threw out applications with names that "sounded black."

That same boss would ask my co-workers from Africa if they spoke "the click-click language."

When my aunt started dating a black man my family members would make snide and demeaning comments behind his back.

Hell, I don't know if I've ever had a family get-together without a single racist comment.

The last time I saw my grandmother she started saying something blatantly racist, I forget what exactly, but then stopped herself. Thing is, she had the biggest smile on her face, like she was actually getting pleasure from saying something horrible about black people, and was struggling to hold back from saying it the way you do when you really need to laugh but know it's inappropriate.

I won't even get into all the racist crap I've seen in these forums, I could devote an entire list to that alone.

I told you Simpsons was uber racist.

I got mystery text messages with racist jokes every year or so from an unknown caller with punchlines about blowing up mosques, how weird is that?! I ignored the first two because I was horror-fascinated then when I got one again I wrote an angry text back and I didn't get any more. Then I got a text saying hey I see you like tanks. Then I got off Facebook forever. I had recently posted photos of me doing silly poses by big tanks. I thought maybe it was the same person. A mad racist stalker or something.

Our King made a comment in the 60's about people coming from 'bongo bongo' land. I'm sure he's learnt now though...

Oh yeah, and my mum said Pakistani's, very careful to not say Paki's, also Indian, Bangladeshi and Persians, treat white girls like whores.

I can't say if that's true but they are strictly forbidden from marrying outside their religion or cultural group and my sister got through about 5 or 6 which were all disasters.

I still can't get completely on the anti-Apu bandwagon, mostly because Much Apu About Nothing is one of the greatest representations of the immigrant experience in America (and also partly because Apu is always portrayed as the serious, thoughtful foil to Homer's buffoonery), but I'm not even going to attempt to defend people using it to mock other people. And I do think that Matt Groenig has some pretty big blind spots, to say the least, when it comes to race. And that response from the show with Lisa and Marge was downright tasteless. This is why we can't have nice things (not because of the controversy, because of the people mocking and ignoring people hurt by the show).

Had a black guy at McD's purposefully ignore me for about 10 minutes. I arrived and stood in line behind a black family as their order was taken and when I walked up he walked away. He then would pretend to do something then peak over at me as I just stood quietly staring at him. He kept haw hemming around not achieving any real task, just faking it and would take quick peaks at me to see if I was still there. Of course I knew from experience his game and I had all day until he realized I wasn't going away. Other times it's usually when I'm in a predominantly black neighborhood and they do or say all sorts of stupid racist stuff. Doesn't bother me at all though. The last time it happened was at Walmart. I was trying to squeeze by in an isle and I said excuse me quite clearly and she ignored me. after the 3rd time I raise my voice so loud that everyone in the store could hear me, she couldn't ignore me then and promptly pulled her cart out of my way as I quietly said thank you with a smile.

Typically with racism you only hear/read about the victim being a minority but discrimination and how you are treated is a 2 way street, just some make it more obvious than others.

Yeah in school, I have also heard jokes.

Being an outcast there are benefits like not having to deal with meaningless social interactions and more time for games.

Being forced to live your life like the scarlet letter and forced to play as your oppressor in your form of escapism must suck.

I thank god I was not born a minority or a woman reading gamefaqs and the whining about sjws

I am in general an unlikeable person in pretty much every group I have been in. I was asked by my teammates to stop running with them. Kind of the black sheep of my dead end job (only reason I haven’t quit is because I might get fired from another job or it be worse)etc.

At least I can attribute this to my lack of charisma which I am just too lazy to work on.

My sincerest condolences to Anyone discriminated against on account of something they can not control like their skin color.

There is always people in worse circumstances and all but to see someone who is a doctor who worked their ass off treated like a scoundrel because the color of their skin is rubbish. I read about this all the time.

@tryitJust walk into any mixed race high school lunch room and it should be fairly obvious who is sitting with who

ethic groups did not mix with white children

that right there is evidence of unaware racism.

why is it just the ethic groups not mixing with white? why is it not 'whites did not mix well with the ethic'?

regardless the point is, when The Right plays that painfully obvious, super transparent tactic of basically say 'see you are a racist too' it just bores me to tears because it doesnt matter, most everyone is a racist, that is not the question, the question is what do you DO about it.

do you lie to others about it? do you physically restrict others from the same access? these are the questions that matter, not 'are you racist! hey look I gotcha! your momma too! na na na bo bo!'

I actually disagree with the comment, most everyone is racist. In my case, I just can't think of a race I feel racism towards or hatred. None whatsoever.

I might have difference with certain beliefs (muslims for example) but that's not racism.

I do believe some people are truly not racist, but again I come from a country where we're so mixed that it's a truly non-issue.

@pimphand_gamer: those things don't sound that bad pimphand.

Never said they were. They were examples of blatant racism I experienced...as the title asks.

Lol, you have no idea what real racism is. You couldn't even begin to comprehend. I think a lot of white people like to pretend that it doesn't exist or is light, because they can't put themselves in other peoples shoes, but as I said. Racism is so engraved in the American culture, for hells sake there was a civil war because of slavery.
