@LexLas sorry to hear about your phone. Most times you can upload your phone stuff to a cloud. I use dropbox and drive. It comes with the phone for free. May want to try that with your next phone.

no. I Don't keep important data or anything scandalous on my phone so no issues. My only concern would be my email accounts, but I imagine they have some way to remotely log you out of your emails.
I lost my phone once I left it on the bus, Long story short I went to my local bus stations office and someone had handed it in. There are some good people in the world.
There are good people. Unfortunately, none around my area when lost.
You said you were on BART (Bay Area?) What part are you from?
BART is super sketch, I've seen more than a few people use it as a toilet, both #1 and #2 lol. And then you get the fools that think everyone wants to listen to their music and play it on those little portable iPod speakers (because, you know, headphones don't exist).
I do usually enjoy taking BART, though.
Never lost a phone or broken one either.
Usually my phones last me 3 years, cuz after that long I get tired of its limitations as new phones have much more new capabilities.
I know people who buy new $600+ phones ever 9 months or every year. WTF?
I dont spend no more than $150 ever 3 years.
Several winters ago I dropped my phone into fairly deep snow while I was cleaning off my car at the end of the shift at work. At the time I wasn't sure if I dropped it outside or somewhere in the building so after checking my desk to make sure I hadn't left it there, checking with security to see if anyone turned it in, and scouring my home I wrote it off as lost. Months later when the snow melted it was sitting right there on the ground next to where I always parked at that job. Needless to say it was beyond salvage but I was amused to find it so long after dropping it.
Well, I lost it by leaving it at the counter of a store but thankfully the store held on to it til I picked it up. That would be the only time I lost my phone. I normally keep my phone in my back pocket so if anyone think they can pickpocket me without me noticing, they got another thing coming...
But I don't keep important things on my phone any way. The only thing that would make me cry is needing to re add all my contacts and needing to give out my number again...
@korvus: Same. I've gotten into the habit of pulling stuff from my phone onto a hard drive twice a week, just in case. I don't have any pics I wouldn't take otherwise on there--too many horror stories on how people get hold of a photo they really don't want anyone else to see.
