Well I have girlfriend (5 years now), I have a job, and an apartment. So yes I have accomplished some goals. I too would like a house. Another goal I have is move into a new type of job that allows me to create stuff. I'm tired of simply being a repair man (it's desktop support, but still that means I'm just repairing computers), and I want to learn how to create 3D designs.
Currently I fix things for people, and consume other things in my spare time (food, tv, books, movies, etc), but I really want to spend the next few decades innovating on old ideas like hydroponics through the use of new technology like Autocad and 3D printers. Not only will my work go towards creating objects, but also improving a growing industry of farming in areas that are otherwise unsuited for growing food.
It's strange how goals change over time. For me it's primarily due to boredom, I wanted to fix things because it gives me satisfaction to take a broken thing and make it work, but recently I have seen diminishing returns in the satisfaction department so I have begun a new endeavor. The other big motivator to change is my girlfriend. I want to be able to provide better for her than I currently do, and I don't see the IT world (at least not where we currently live) allowing me to make enough money to live that kind of life. Accomplishing one goal (getting a girlfriend) has helped provide me with a new goal. Life is funny like that I guess.
