Has anyone here ever gotten girls with poetry?

So I've heard a few times that a good way to get a girl is to lure her with poetry. I've heard it once when a spokesman (an author) came and talk to our class back in high school, and again in the Spiderman 2 film. I've never actually tried it, but I will now that I've become less shy and have the chance to talk to a certain someone. But have any of the guys here tried it? How far did it get you with girls? Maybe the gals here can give me some advice, or their experience as well.

I had an um... rap written for me. Had this been a courting gesture rather than just a spontaneous action, I probably would have just lol'd. I'm not really into poetry, but if the girl was, I could see potential for it to work. And a rule of thumb is to take everything you see on movies with a grain of salt, especially ones where being bitten by a spider makes you awesome, not swollen up and in the ER.

It varies from each girl I was trying to impress, sometimes I would compare some of them to nature or some to other stuff that they reminded me of. I liked to personalize them and not make them so generic.

It's possible I suppose, but in this day and age you probably need the girl to be really smart or really stupid to make much headway with poetry.

You should not be terrified to give them or recite them the poem you have written them, having confidence is another quality they like.

If you can writte poetry you can writte music, learn yourself some guitar chords and make a song for her and i guarantee you , youll have her at your feet ;)

TBH, i have never needed to/considered/ever would use poetry to get a girl. Furthermore, I would never be anything other than myself. What's the point?/

I would only write a poem for a girl if we were already dating. Poetry (especially love poems) always seem pretentious and fake.

I'm more a fan of the surprise romantic gesture myself. It's much more personal than leaving a poem for someone. You should be in "the moment" together. ;)
