I'm looking for some great fantasy books to read similar to "Lord of the Rings". There are some things I do not want in a book though. I don't want a book that has swearing or sex in it. I just don't like reading a book written in that way. What are some great fantasy books without the swearing or sex?

Any of the Forgotten Realms books, like the poster above me mentioned, are fantastic if you're into the feel-good type fantasy stuff.

If your taste ever matures you might want to look into Warhammer fantasy. It's brutal and action packed. Always get a great read from a Warhammer book.

Dune - Frank Herbert Arguably one of the best sci-fi fantasy novels ever written.

These are some great books. Can't wait for Rothfuss' second book to come out.

The author doesn't go into detail about it though. I mean it's known, but it's described.

I think Harry Potter is the polar opposite of the Lord of the Rings. Where one is medievil and has a dungeons and dragons sort of feeling, the other is set in contemporary Britain complete with tabloid journalists and the government trying to interfere in schools.

Well if you don't want swearing and sex then A Song of Ice and Fire is probably not right for you (great books though), on the other hand, The Wheel of Time is an epic series with very minor sex and no swearing (except for made up swear words) so it would probably be fine. Check the series out on wikipedia to learn more

With no sex or swearing is really limiting your choices here I think.... The ones I have read that are suitable for children to read too (if they can understand some of the words) are predictable and poor in comparison to the ones that contain swearing and sex.

Lord of the rings is a brilliant read though, however it was predictable as it was a story he told to his kids. I hate predictability.

I think The Chronicles of Narnia should be your first priority. No bad content at all, and it's an amazing series. I also recommend The Neverending Story by Michael Ende and Earthsea 1-3 by Ursula K. Le Guin. And of course Tolkien's Silmarillion is a must, if you haven't read it yet.

Lol, there's multiple rape scenes in every book (though like you said, he doesn't really go into detail about them), and there is constant talk of sex.

The Bartimaeus Trilogy is good.

It's not a romance-novelish type book.. You know there's stuff going on but that's it.
