Google Chrome Overtakes Internet Explorer

Just after Microsoft's post about the inaccurate market share reports from StatCounter, the company behind one of the most popular monitoring sites has published a report of their own.

However, it has nothing to do with the HitsLink vs. StatCounter, in fact what they did is revealed that Microsoft's Internet Explorer has been overtaken by Google Chrome for the first time in history on Sunday 18 March.

With the upcoming release of Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and Xbox Next, which might have IE pre-installed, it will be interesting to see how IE's market share changes over the course of next year.FavBrowser

I bet ZumaJones07 will be happy to hear this, as well as those that instantly recommend Chrome when an ever so slight problem pops up with another browser...

i will always use Firefox

The new IE isn't terrible, but it's a lot like Chrome, so that's probably why.

Actually Next-Box is name of a cable box in Canada, I think it may be Rogers, I seen a commercial for it.

IE's only good use is to use it to find and download a better browser.the_phenom_

Yeah, and you can't spell "crap" without "rap", and it takes one to know one etc.

People really need to stop saying this, it's just old and unfunny.

Putting that aside, it's unsurprising. Chrome just works.

I was gonna give chrome a trial run before reading this post. I don't have cable and only watch tv via internet...so I'll stick with firefox.

I still think this is all part of Google's world domination. Browsers, search engines, social networking, phones... who knows what else they are planning. I will not fall for this tomfoolery! :xMistressMinako

I love how many people went into this topic saying "Hurrrrr I use Chrome because it's better than Firefux" knowing that the subject is how Chrome beat out Internet Explorer in market share.

I only use Firefox to surf the web in Ubuntu when I'm playing with it in VirtualBox. Long story short, Firefox is overrated and I like Chrome.XiaolinPrincess

I've been using Firefox as long as I can remember, but keep it limited to 3.6.23. I've never had any issues.cell_dweller

I use both Firefox and Chrome...when Chrome can do images right, then I will just use 1 browser

I love Chrome, been using it for several years now. FFseems like a good browser as well, but I don't use it that much so I'm not used to it. I can't even remember the last time I used IE though...
