i will say Dream Theater.
such terrible vocals that i can't listen to for more than 10 mins. They should just ditch the vocals all together.
I heard a local band where I'm a Uni called It's a Trap! and they could play awesome music but their singer was just shouting. What made it worse was that he kept holding the microphone either too close or too far away so you could barely hear what he was saying one second and then he was way louder than the music the next. They had some nice riffs and stuff though.
hmm maybe some songsi will say Dream Theater.

Some blink 182 songs love M+M's but the vocals are eugh :( dead by april can be hit or miss sometimes aswell but they make up for it live by a massive margin and i met Jimmie,Zandro and Alex aswell so its all good xD.
No band really come to mind, but I know a few people who like Rush's music, but can't stand Geddy Lee's vocals.

Jimi Hendrix
there, I said it

Easily Tvangeste. Music is amazing, but the vocalist sounds like that fruit loop from Cradle of Fries.
Lamb of Godmfp16]oh no you didnt just mention one of my fav live bands xD sonically they are immense live, sterile and floppy on CD.Randy's vocals are a beast on Wrath though tbh xD.

Quicksand although its not that big of a deal for me.
EDIT: TOOL! first band to come to my mind when I entered the thread and then blanked on them. I like some of their songs but I just can't stand MJK's voice.
Rush.
The instrumentals are great, but when the lead vocalist starts singing with his shrill voice, the track takes a corny turn instantly and the lyrics certainly don't help.
Not to say the vocals are bad as far as musical merit is concerned, but I hate the way they sound.
NINSaDiZTiKStyLeZ
Whatchu talkin' bout Willis? TR's voice is addicting. Meh, I guess we all have our preferences in singers.
Anyways, I can't stand Jane Addiction's and Guns N' Roses vocals. Don't like the high pitched squeal human chicken sound(Ironically I'm a huge Jack White fan.)
Baptized In Blood'd be killer if they had an actual singer instead of the death metal gheyness they have. And Messiah Force...their singer sounds like she's basically reading the lyrics in a bemused voice, it ruins the whole power-speed-metal aspect of things.Dx
Tech Death a lot of times I don't see why they even need to add them in the first place because they're hard to understand when you're trying to focus on the music anyways. BTW not really saying they're bad vocals but they're just out of place IMO.
Totally disagree, Hendrix's voice has character and personality. That can be just as valuable as any degree of vocal acrobatics, in fact I'd argue it's far more valuable.Jimi Hendrix

In all honesty, I think any vocal style besides the deep growls would be out of place in tech death.
Curious what you guys think about a yoiking vocal styIe? :P
I used to think this sounded ridiculous but over time I started to find it completely bad ass

It's alright. Oh and Robbo since you like folk metal, you should check out Isengard, Myrkgrav, Storm, Otyg, Kroda, and Wongraven. Last one is actually folk music but whatever.

I've heard Isengard, Myrkgrav, and Wongraven before. Myrkgrav is awesome and Wongraven was cool but seemed a tad boring (song I checked out was just dark ambient or something like that, I assumed everything was ambient)
On a side note, Myrkgrav should really start endorsing those awesome sweaters he wears

surprised no one's said joanna newsom yet; i personally adore her voice but it's not uncommon for people to ***** about it

Whatever man. Just whatever. To Drown is one of the most incredible things I've ever heard. :x
Though I'm intrigued, I'm gonna need some linkage to some proper Wongraven

I'll never understand that whole "scream into the mic in a low pitched voice" = singing deal... It's really a pity imo, lamb of god's instrumentals are phenomenal...[QUOTE="mfp16"]Lamb of Godrazgriz_101

Yeah, not really. Mediocre vocals, mediocre music. In my opinion of course. There are a lot better metalcore bands out there
How can you even say that? :| lol,sorry..but i can feel the pretentiousness in every single word he sings.[QUOTE="VaguelyTagged"]

I dunno, it's got a really neat atmosphere to it but I usually only listen to this sort of thing if I can completely lose myself in the music if you know what I mean. I'll listen to this album in its entireity soon though and see what happens
