Ive been listening to the same stuff for months now, and i feel like downloading or buying some new music, in-particular some metal. Im a fan of Metallica (pre black album), Megadeth and Slayer in-particular and i would like to get into some more bands similar to those. Ive been hearing about ones called Opeth and Job Fora Cowboyand im gonna start getting some Lamb of God onto my ipod. Can anyone help me out with some more stuff to download, inparticular good songs by the bands, including the ones i mentioned before.

Kreator (thrash metal), Behemoth (blackened death metal), Children of Bodom (melodic death metal).

Songs:

Kreator - Pleasure to Kill, Behemoth - Decade of Therion, Children of Bodom - Silent Night, Bodom Night.

Those songs shouldn't be too hard to find.

Try their earlier albums, they're a LOT better. Valley of The Damned was their best (and first) album, with songs such as Valley of the Damned and Heart of a Dragon.

Well since your into thrash, check these bands out:

Machine Head

Nevermore

Anthrax (Figured since you mentioned 3 of the 4 fathers of thrash, I mine as well suggest the 4th)

As for good non-thrash bands:

Soilwork

The Human Abstract

In Flames

The Dillinger Escape Plan

Opeth

Static-X

Machine Head, get Through the Ashes of the Empire, Burn my Eyes, The More Things change, and their new album, The Blackening. In Flames are worth listening to. Sanctity. Soulfly. Sepultura. Gojira. Megadeth. Iron Maiden. Theres some to name a few, definitely try and get some Machine Head. I saw them live last night in Manchester and they were amazing. Dragonforce were also playing but they bore the hell out of me now. Every song is like a 10 minute solo.

definitely check out Opeth, but I'd recommend avoiding Job for a Cowboy. the latter is pretty generic, and the band members are jerks on top of that. anyway, I'd recommend these are starting points:

Strapping Young Lad
Orphaned Land
Lacuna Coil
Nightwish
Children of Bodom
Nevermore
Epica
Shadows Fall
Chimaira
Daath
In Flames
Machine Head
Dark Tranquillity
Scar Symmetry

also, I'm working on a "holiday buyer's guide" on my blog, so you can always look at that for help. the url is http://musicreviews666.blogspot.com/2007/11/holiday-buyers-guide-accessible-metal.html

i know what you mean, although i dont find it "boring" i find it all very samey, iv heard all 3 albums and apart from a select few, i just get sick of the same old routine of playing normal songs but at 3x the speed...

if you are into power metal, you should DEFINATELY check out blind guardian, they are similar to bands like iced earth, but way better..

i also love dream theater, john petrucci is possibly the best guitarist i have ever seen...go on youtube and lookup "the glass prison" by dream theater and you will see what i mean.

No other song is needed. This is the drinking song. The. Drinking. Song.

EDIT: Also, throw in some Dark Tranquillity, and your mom will be happy.

Ok thanks for all the bands guys. Some of the stuff mentioned i already listen to like In Flames, Souldly, Sepultra, Pantera,DragonForce, Dimmu Bogir andKillswitch Engage, but some of the others i had heard of but cbf at the time getting into or just never heard of. I will look more into Opeth, Dark Tranquility and Children of Bodom along with some others mentioned. I got some friends that i think are really into some ofthem so i'll see if i can get any albums off them. thanks again. If anyone else knows any others apart from the ones mentioned before that would help heaps.

I am digging me some Nightrage as of late, so I recommend checking them out.

Seeing as they have a new singer on their latest album, they sound a bit different so you gotta check out two sounds when looking into the band.

*smh* Violent Revolution isn't the same ownage without listening to the Patriarch before it.

I myself would have recommended Pleasure to Kill because it owns and because it's what I'm listening to right now. With the song Riot of Violence.
