Those songs shouldn't be too hard to find.

Opeth (The Drapery Falls, The Grand Conjuration, Harvest, Ghost of Perdition)

Stratovarius ( Hunting High and Low, Phoenix, Millenium, Infinity, Rebel, Fight)
Death (Crystal Mountain, Misanthrope, Perenial Quest, Scavenger of Human Sorrow)
Here is my top 10 listed for 2007. All metal bands, and some big name you absolutely need to listen.
[QUOTE="MichaeltheCM"]uhhhh Dragonforce is pretty good :)Fortier
I can't listen to DragonForce, it gets boring for me. I'll always listen to Through The Fire And The Flames, but never could make it through the next song without switching it...
Try their earlier albums, they're a LOT better. Valley of The Damned was their best (and first) album, with songs such as Valley of the Damned and Heart of a Dragon.
Well since your into thrash, check these bands out:
Machine Head
Nevermore
Anthrax (Figured since you mentioned 3 of the 4 fathers of thrash, I mine as well suggest the 4th)
As for good non-thrash bands:
Soilwork
The Human Abstract
In Flames
The Dillinger Escape Plan
Opeth
Static-X
[QUOTE="LostProphetFLCL"]The Human Abstract
Faust_DWfan
Lol they are awesome, I'm listening to them right now
Glad to see I am not the only one who thinks they are awesome! I can't wait to see what they do with their next album!
definitely check out Opeth, but I'd recommend avoiding Job for a Cowboy. the latter is pretty generic, and the band members are jerks on top of that. anyway, I'd recommend these are starting points:
Strapping Young Lad
Orphaned Land
Lacuna Coil
Nightwish
Children of Bodom
Nevermore
Epica
Shadows Fall
Chimaira
Daath
In Flames
Machine Head
Dark Tranquillity
Scar Symmetry
also, I'm working on a "holiday buyer's guide" on my blog, so you can always look at that for help. the url is http://musicreviews666.blogspot.com/2007/11/holiday-buyers-guide-accessible-metal.html

i know what you mean, although i dont find it "boring" i find it all very samey, iv heard all 3 albums and apart from a select few, i just get sick of the same old routine of playing normal songs but at 3x the speed...
if you are into power metal, you should DEFINATELY check out blind guardian, they are similar to bands like iced earth, but way better..
i also love dream theater, john petrucci is possibly the best guitarist i have ever seen...go on youtube and lookup "the glass prison" by dream theater and you will see what i mean.
These guys are increadible, 3rd Degree Burns!!!!!!

They arent even signed!!!!!
Black Friday Rule - Flogging Molly
No other song is needed. This is the drinking song. The. Drinking. Song.
EDIT: Also, throw in some Dark Tranquillity, and your mom will be happy.
Ok thanks for all the bands guys. Some of the stuff mentioned i already listen to like In Flames, Souldly, Sepultra, Pantera,DragonForce, Dimmu Bogir andKillswitch Engage, but some of the others i had heard of but cbf at the time getting into or just never heard of. I will look more into Opeth, Dark Tranquility and Children of Bodom along with some others mentioned. I got some friends that i think are really into some ofthem so i'll see if i can get any albums off them. thanks again. If anyone else knows any others apart from the ones mentioned before that would help heaps.

I'm sure you'll find some bands in there that you'll like.
Is that what OT has come to, apart from all of the other threads that have become borings its now a case of naming your favourite metal bands every 5 minutes. I mean I like Metal as much as the next guy but friggin heck!

Would you rather post in a religion thread?
I am digging me some Nightrage as of late, so I recommend checking them out.
Seeing as they have a new singer on their latest album, they sound a bit different so you gotta check out two sounds when looking into the band.
Old
New

*smh* Violent Revolution isn't the same ownage without listening to the Patriarch before it.
I myself would have recommended Pleasure to Kill because it owns and because it's what I'm listening to right now. With the song Riot of Violence.
