The larger CBS corportation has shown it's support for SOPA, yes. This is because they want to protect their TV properties (such as How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men, etc. on CBS and shows like Californication and Dexter on Showtime) which are frequently distributed illegally. Here at GameSpot, while we understand the need for copyright protection, we believe that the SOPA and PIPA bills attack the problems in a misguided way and that a great deal of work needs to be done to articulate solutions without affecting online freedoms. We've posted the this story to highlight the challenges and have been providing links to places where objections can be heard.
One of the problems is that the people trying to pass this law don't even know what the hell the internet even is let alone how to use it..just a bunch of old farts with too much money making decisions for things they don't understand.If they even THINK a site is infringing on someones copyright or what-have-you then it gets the axe.

It's a large company, and different kinds of media have very different needs. At GameSpot we believe that there must be a better solution than these bills, and are glad to see that the objections are starting to get through to government officials.
I'm in happy ol' europe, but it seems incredible that in the so-called "Land of the Free" that right-wing nationalist americans preach so much about would become much more like China with SOPA and PIPA. Piracy is obviously bad, but SOPA and PIPA are just repression of freedom.

Highly doubt GameSpot will boycott E3. If we want to actually make a significant impact, get Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo to boycott E3 and cancel all their press conferences. Without them, E3 essentially doesn't exist. However that's unlikely since they are members of the ESA.
