Alrighty then. Things have been as boring as a two virgin, British porno around here lately. Certainly the OTcars may at least somewhat change that. Sadly, however, when you get right down to it the OTcars are a forum game by another name and any forum game when you've done it too many times can lose a touch of momentum. So, I'm going to suggest we try something a little more fresh. Before I do so, let's get the particulars out of the way. 1. Yes, I've run the idea of doing this particular forum game past our divinely inspired masters. (AKA the community managers and other true gods of this particular realm.) Therefore, if you don't want to participate, then do go ahead and fvck off...but do so without trying to spoil whatever amounts of fun we can summon from this particular attempt at amusement by trying to report me. You will likely have even less luck than normal doing so. I lead a charmed life. Or, as a philosopher once said, "God helps those who help themselves" which is often simplified down to "thou shalt always cover thine ass." 2. I retain the right to act in an utterly arbitrary way more or less for the amusement value of doing so. I'm going to go ahead and lay out game rules here, but I'll adhere to them or ignore them as I see fit in order to make sure that the amusement value is maximized. I'm quite accustomed to doing such a thing so there shouldn't be any surprises. 3. Don't know what mafia is? No worries. I'll explain it. Basically mafia is a game where everyone signs up to participate, and then everyone gets a role assigned to them partially at random and partially based on what I think will be the most fun. Here are the roles: Mafia Scum: These are the "bad" guys. They kill people. In theory these people are bad people. Hold tight and I'll explain more in a moment. Our Noble Peasantry: These folks are sometimes referred to as "the townspeople" or "the villagers". Their job is to identify the mafia among them before they're all killed off by their own incompetence and indifference. Special Roles: These vary a whole lot by each game so I'm lumping them all together into one for ease of explanation. They're basically wild cards and/or additional rules that whomever is running the game throws in for spice and flavor...or just to mess with people for the fun and amusement of others. An example might be the special role "Village Doctor" who can save one person per round. Here's how this thing generally works. There are a million variations of this, so try and get the general idea. It's pretty easy to pick up. It's basically OT Detective made into game form. Everyone is assigned a secret role. Townspeople, mafia, whatever. Objective is to identify and lynch the mafia before the mafia kill off all the townspeople. Each round there's a period of posting where people try and figure out who is playing what role. At the end of each "round" or "day" the town decides who to kill. If they guess right, they kill a mafia member. Meanwhile the mafia kills one person each round by sending their choice to the person running the game. (Me.) Play continues until one side wins.

There are good guys, and there are bad guys. The good guys don't know who the bad guys are, but they do their best to find out, and vote for who they think is evil. There are two parts to every round (day and night) every night, the bad guys kill someone. Every day, the good guys take a public vote, and kill someone. Whichever team runs out of players first, loses.

ALWAYS loved when our teacher's let us play this. Hahaha, one of my teachers modified it so we could walk around the room in the dark, while the secret mafia poked their prey in the back, signifying that that's who they'll kill. Needless to say, when suddenly half the class was supposed to be killed, I was ratted out and sent to the office. Overkill reaction much, Mrs. Barnes? Count me in!

I've added the new, "volunteers", into the list above. Tonight will be a signup. I'll create a new thread tomorrow at around 12:00 or 1:00 PM Mountain Time to officially start the game. I'm aware of the time zone issues here and I want to give some folks who are already probably already asleep a chance to signup before sending out everyone's role via PM. And, of course, once I have an idea of how many people are going to participate I'll come up with some "special" roles heavily influenced by who signs up.

This would probably be a good time to mention that I've got no issues arbitrarily killing people after a certain length of time if they sign up and then don't actively participate. "Hurricane Jody" has a nice ring to it in terms of a natural disaster that writes people out of the game just to keep things moving if necessary. (Name selected entirely at random.)

I lynched Suzy without qualms often and was never right . I remember the last time we played here I was lynched and kept trying to tell you guys to lynch Travo I think. Mafia scum

Yeah people not playing after they signed up was an issue in the latter parts last time.
