Neither. Just a bit of salt will do for me. I like simplicity.

No salt, no sauce, no nothing.

But ketchup is always a big no. I can appreciate some good mayo, ketchup is always trash tier.

If it's a good fry, then nothing. Just a decent amount of salt (salt and fried food = win).

If it's a regular fry, then ketchup.

Garlic fries are good....bunch of raw garlic, olive oil, and shredded parm cheese tossed with hot fries.

Sometimes you go to a nice fry place (the ones where they give you a cone of fries) and they have different sauces like garlic aioli...which is essentially mayo lol...or a chipotle sauce or something.

A purist I see. I do like them salted tho.

Any sauce will just overwhelm and ruin the taste.

Between the two, ketchup easily. Pink ketchup works, too (ketchup + mayo).

Chik-fil-a sauce works great, too.

When it comes to French fries I'm like a chain smoker. I like to have LOTS of salt on them

There's a burger joint around the corner of where I live where they have truffle flavoured mayonnaise as their standard mayo, that's like beyond anything else I can imagine 🤤

Yeah, it's slept on.

The reason this and ketchup are superior to mayo is because of the acidity.

I quite like to mix them both.

Salt and vinegar is also good for proper fat chunky chips.

My Indian friend puts salt, vinegar and curry powder, it’s also good.

I love this Colombian restaurant's dish that incorporates fries, shredded chicken, diced hot dogs, and shredded cheese. Soooooooooooo good!

It's ketchup or nothing. As much as I am okay with mayonnaise on sandwiches, I can't imagine using it as a dipping sauce.

Ranch. Come at me.

Ketchup sucks. Too much sugar not enough vinegar.

Now pickled tomatoes on the other hand......

Seriously, both. As a kid my dad would make it for me. With slices of ham and melted cheese over top.

On the other hand though, any kind of good quality aioli would be even better.

Both.

Is there anything that you can't put on top of fries? There are just so many great sauces.

I love ketchup. I can't eat mayo on fries, but I do think that Aioli, particularly garlic aioli is perfect for fries, and I prefer that to ketchup.

EDIT: Whoops, sorry. I can see this was a thread older than two weeks. My apologies for inadvertently practicing the black arts.

It happens. Besides, it gives me a chance to quietly mod anyone who answered "mayo". :)

Just kidding...

Probably.

Mayo. I don't really eat ketchup, but I know a lot of adults who do. I like to just sit and watch them, they are so intriguing.
