Some of my favorite Bible verses include:
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him in not judged; but he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."-- John 3:16-18
This lays it all out in black and white-- if you follow Jesus, you're not judged (that is, you're not condemned, and you spend eternity in heaven). If you don't follow Jesus, you're condemned already. Being condemned (and thus spending eternity in hell, being tormented for your sins)-- what a terrible outcome at the end of your life. Especially when you have the reality that God sent His perfect, sinless Son Jesus Christ to take the punishment for our sins. A huge scope to think about-- that on that cross, Jesus faced the fury and wrath of Almighty God. God offers you full, complete forgiveness of all of your sins, because Jesus paid for them on the cross. You can't buy it, earn it, or work for it-- you can only accept it. It's God's free gift, and so many people turn it down.
What's more, Jesus arose from the dead, and He conquered sin and death. Which brings me into another of my favorite verses, from that morning around 2,000 years ago when a few women went to Jesus' grave, expecting to find a body. Instead, they encountered an angel. Here's what the angel said: "Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said." (Matthew 28:5-6)
How awesome-- the reality of the risen Lord.
