Hit me with your favorite horror movies. Hellraiser is at the top of the list for me
Extremely generic reply. "The Exorcist".
Some people don't like it because yea, atheist, don't believe in that shit, and for the record, I don't either. But as a horror movie with build up and payoff, even after it's many imitators, extremely effective.
Toss up between that and The Shining.

I always enjoy the Exorcist movies but Exorcist: The Beginning is still my fav.
@davillain-: Haven't seen this. After a while the seeing all the clones tend to avoid them.
Excorcist III is really good though. Tends to get overlooked because II was such a terrible sequel.
Yes. Hellraiser is one of my faves, too.
I'm forgetting some, but this is what I got.
@dead2009: Weird you made this post, I just watched Hellraiser for the first time last night. I really enjoyed it, a few "why the f*ck did they do that" moments, but overall an interesting horror flick. Pinhead and crew have some amazing designs and practical effects going on.
Here's a short list of some of my favs.. .
Evil Dead franchise (movies and tv show)
Hard Candy
High Tension
Dead Alive (Braindead in some parts of the world)
Re-Animator
The Thing
Day of the Dead
Zombie
Ooof, where to begin?!
Honestly I know I am forgetting a lot, especially a lot of the classics from the 70's through the 90's.
@mrbojangles25: I can't do list like this very well either. I remember a few, type them out and after posting it I'll just continually remember tons more that I should have put on.
haha right? And I feel like I am doing a disservice when I forget them, like my mom is standing there going "What about _? You can't forget about _! For shame, son, for shame!"
Ah, speaking of moms....add Psycho to that list.

I still haven't see the original all the way through. Maybe only viewed less than 30 minutes of it when I was a teenager. It's been on my radar for a long time now though. Screenshots of the movie I'd find online as a kid absolutely scared the living hell out of me.
It's hard to say. There's just too many I have appreciated over the years.
One that always slips into my mind when adding to topics like this is Halloween II...probably an unpopular opinion though. I like how the majority of the film is set in a hospital. Having Myers lurk around there just adds to the suspense.
