Basically I am looking to buy my first car, and I found an ad on Craigslist for a really nice 2000 BMW 323i, for only 3000 bucks. Usually a car this new and of this quality goes for 6000 dollars. That itself already makes this suspicious. Well, I emailed the guy and he basically said that he wanted to make all the details of the arrangement by email, and that I should give him my mail/billing address: "REPLY WITH YOUR NAME AND SHIPPING ADDRESS (MAILING/BILLING) IN YOUR NEXT EMAIL." The fact that he wants to do things by mail, and that his offer seems to good to be true makes me think this is a scam. Here are the pictures of the car. Do you think this is a 3000 dollar car?

Oh and one more thing, the licence plate on the car says Texas.....the guy claims he's in California....

Before you buy the car you should always test drive it.

Damn, the previous owner really took care of that car. Looks brand new to say that it's nine years old.

If they're not willing to meet in person, then I wouldn't bother with it.

I'd suggest finding a car in your vicinity.

You should visit the owner and go test drive it. If you're still unsure get a carfax, that will give you a fairly good idea. Also, have you checked the bluebook value for those?

Yeah thats the thing. I emailed him asking for the address so we can go see it and test drive it. Then he tells me I have to give him MY address and that we have to work out all the details by email.

Just reply asking the seller why you have to do it that way. With this in mind, it does sound as if something is up.

Sounds like the good ol' Nigerians working on a way to steal your identity. I'd stay away from it if I were you

I wouldn't trust him if I were you. Its most likely shady if he doesn't want to meet face to face.

Those cars still sell for like 10 grand with 100,000 miles on it. So unless that car has 200,000 miles and a few wrecks in its past then he's scamming you and I'd stay away. Hell, I'd stay away anyway. This is not a good deal, at all.

this sounds very much like a scam, especially if he's against you taking the car for a test drive. if i was trying to sell my car for any amount i'd be thrilled if someone wanted to buy it.

I can understand why he wouldn't give his address out over the internet though.

Dude its a scam....every single "nigerian" scam asks you for your name and address and that BMW looks like it has the sport premium package, that its not worth 3,000$ trust me dont do it...
