The only reason I could think of that would piss off Christians is the notion that other intelligent life exists in the universe, which is never mentioned in the bible. Bible contradictions tend to piss them off.

I don't know about the book, but in the movie other guys are the creators of everything, and I think there's a scene with god doing exercise.

How is it a contradiction if its never mentioned?

It neither accepts or denys the existence of extraterrestrials so either way, there's no contradiction.

Ok, thanks. That does't piss me off though because if there are aliens (which I believe) than God created them too. I love how athiests think that would be the end of Christianity.

I can't remember anything especially anti-crhistian but the books are fairly critical towards religion in general.

The only Christian thing I remember is the part where it say something like 2,000 years ago some guy recommend we all be nicer to each other, and he ended up nailed to a tree.

The main theme of the book is basically against what Christians believe, and that is the universe is a weird wacky place, and that trying to find/claim meaning in the whole lot of it would be absurd. While Chrisitans believe our purpose is to serve god.

I saw it. It basically states that earth was created by a corporation, not made by God. It kinda bothered me, but it's just silliness.

Not that I know of. I don't know if the Author was Christian, but one of my good Christian friends has read the entire series and loved it.

Why do you ask?

The movie sucks but the book rocks. Also read The His Dark Materials trilogy, great fantasy series.

I'd say pretty much all works of adult fiction that I have read have themes which are not exactly in line with Christianity...

If the notion of other intelligent life pisses people off then I don't think we even count as intelligent life.

yeah, it has anti-Christian themes, but obviously not as many as the His Dark Materials trilogy, ya know, the Golden Compass, etc. If you want an anti-religion book, Golden Compass is the one to read.

Wasn't there also that part where God left a message saying something like 'Sorry for the trouble', which would suggest that he made a mistake?

All of Douglas Adams' works make fun of different aspects of society. If religion gets pulled into the mix, so be it.
