[QUOTE="Derek240"][QUOTE="DmadFearmonger"]My idea of rock would be Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Cream, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai. Those kinds of guys. I'm also classifying Hard Rock as Rock. It's just the label "Alternative" I hate. If Radiohead, Muse, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters. etc were just labeled "rock" like they should be then things would be so much simpler. Really there's no difference between Rock and Alternative Rock in terms of Characteristics. It's almost like "The age of the music is it's label"DmadFearmonger
Sorry but The Beatles are pop (though some of their later stuff is alternative or even what you might call experimental).
It's their later stuff I listen to. And the Alternative label wasn't even around 'till the 80's so It's still rock. (Gotchya)I have to agree that The Beatles were pop. Always were pop IMO. They were the equivalant of a boy band as far as the media machine and public was concerned. I would call their later work adult contemporary.
