Do your parents play any computer games or console games? What games do they like? Maybe you play video games together?

My father like some shooters and tank simulators. Sometimes we play online together. But my mom doesn't like this lol.

Even as a kid growing up in the 90's, my parents never cared about playing games at all. They didn't have video games while growing up in there lives but I will say they enjoy of me playing games while they watch when I was all on SNES/Genesis. I gave my parents some good entertainment coming home from there work :)

My father did when I was a little kid, but he hasn't for like 20+ years now. My mom likes to play causual games in the style of Candy Crush on her mobile or Facebook.

So, casual games are games too. Not everybody likes hard games. I think for parents this is normal.

My mother never touched a video game.

And about my father, he plays video games with friends or sometimes with me, but not alone (except BBtan on smartphone :p )

My dad used to play video games with me growing up, on the PS1. My mum sometimes plays spider solitaire but I think she has a shameful win/loss ratio lol.

My mother would play 80's arcade games the last game she played was the Namco Museum collection on the PS1. I'm pretty sure my father did too the last game he played was Doom for the PS1. He would call the BFG Big Momma. Last year he invested $3000+ on a PC because he would do video editing on his laptop so he thought it would be better to ditch his laptop and use a PC instead and try to get back into gaming. I called him over the phone once and I ask him has he played any games yet?He said he bought a few and tried them out, but just finds it difficult for him to play it. I guess modern games and controllers are too much for him to get familiar with. I told him to try out old school games from his days to get familiarize first and then slowly move up to more modern games and hope that it will help him. I've been talking to him recently, but I should ask if he is still trying to play videogames or did he just give up.

My dad doesn't play videogames anymore aside from a casual game of Company of Heroes 2, because he feels it's something he could get lost into and he doesn't have the time for that. I was so happy when he played through GoldenEye 64 :) I kind of feel sad that he doesn't get the time to enjoy games but as a smart person said: "Some things are bigger than games."

My mom doesn't play videogames because she can't handle 3D imagery well, and she also feels like it would be a waste of her time (but she has been a little traumatized since her youth because of her mom being psychologically abusive and therefore finds it tough to enjoy anything). She's pulling through, though.

@KungfuKitten: Sorry to hear about your mother. Having abusive parents leaves scars that never really heal and it's something she will likely have to fight with for the rest of her life, but it can improve with enough support from the ones close to her.

My mom used to play consoles, PC and arcades. She just plays smartphone games now.

My dad used to play Yahoo games online/PC. He now only plays Hot Shots Golf/Everybody’s Golf on PlayStation consoles.

@korvus: Yeah, it's going OK. Biggest problem is she refuses to get professional help involved because she's worried it would get worse by talking about it and that she'd get suicidal. I would really prefer to have a professional here because I'm convinced it would help her greatly, but without her consent that's not going to work. The abusive mom is still alive and still messing her up at times, but at least we're grown up now and can help her pull through. Thanks for your concern :)

(I watched the movie Ladybird with her and I could tell she was in tears because spoilers... the mom in the movie shows abusive tendencies too. And that aspect is done very well in terms of acting. It also shows the big problem that abuse will stay alive through generations and that, to make things harder, it somehow doesn't stop people from also loving each other still in some weird way.)

Because she's almost 70 and averse to technology.

@KungfuKitten: Big apology to the TC for the derailing

It's an f-ed up situation. My mother's abuse left me with constant nightmares until about a month ago when I finally decided to cut her off my life when I caught her mistreating my son. A few days ago I finally got the courage to tell my sister about what happened (she was pretty much out the house by the time I was born so she didn't witness any of it) and now the nightmares are back...just when I thought I was done with that part...

As for the whole "victims of abuse will become abusers themselves" concern I understand that very well...when my wife was pregnant we had to fill out lots of forms and whatnot and one of them asked if I had ever been victim of abuse; I said yes and when my son was born my house got invaded by government people who stuck around in my house uninvited for a month watching me like hawks to see if I was going to beat or rape my kid...it was such a horrible experience...they were treating me like I was insane or about to pull a knife on them at any time. Basically whenever they'd leave I would just go to my room and cry my eyes out. It's a huge weight and a huge stigma...

My mom only played games like Pac-Man. My dad grew up in a rural farm area. So access to electronics was pretty much non existent for him. Except for one TV they had in his parents house.

My mom plays phone games and Facebook games. The only other video game she played was on the Wii, which was Just Dance and Bowling. I tried to get her into Call of Duty Zombies since she likes zombie movies, but it didn't work.

My dad used to play video games. He used to go to the arcade with his friends and he owned an Atari. Though he doesn't play them anymore.

@korvus: Wow that sounds intense. I'm glad that you pulled through that ordeal. I've had to deal with a stigma and a visit from the government too albeit for a different reason (receiving government money for personal healthcare due to a disorder which they are extremely suspicious of) and it can be real saddening the way they try and judge based on real weird things. They don't know you. But hey we all do our best and that's all we can do. To keep learning and bettering ourselves in ways we can handle. Not you but everyone. That's all anyone can do in life. And if people presume that you are a certain way or a certain person there isn't much to do about it. Convincing someone is hard, sometimes impossible. But that's kind of the extend of it. You just be a good person and hope they understand. Well, power to you. Don't let the world get to you in your attempt to make the best of it.

Yep! Dad's been playing XBOX ONE a lot, and started a game of Morrowind.
