You live in a country with poorly-paid, poorly-trained, trigger-happy cops that you don't so much rely on as get out of the way in hope they go after bad people and leave you alone too, huh? I feel ya.

Just a single hangtag air freshener that you'll buy from Dollar store.

I don't bother but my wife sneaks one into my car once in awhile. She wraps it around the gear shift though.

No. Not for fear of being shot by police, I live in the UK so that's not likely to happen (yet). We have a car cleaner/spray that has the smell of a brand new car.

Nope. Some strong smells give me a headache.

Got a bottle of Ozium, that usually does the trick.

If my car were to smell, that would be a reason for me to clean it.

And yes, I was aware that it's technically illegal to hang anything from your mirror. It's one of those things you generally don't expect to get pulled over for, though.

No. Frankly I hate driving and avoid it when I can. My car just sits there and gets nasty with bird shit and pollen. I don't buy things that aren't required for the car to function properly.
