Mass shootings, violent children are on the rise, and it happens to be at a time when video games are some of the top entertainment. Do you think there is a link between the two?

No. Go look at some other nation (developed) that plays video games (see 'every other f*cking nation) and see if they have as many shootings (hint: they don't)

Why not?

1. There have been mass shootings before video games were prevalent. 2. Violent media has been around long before video games. 3. One could say that all these mass murderers ate breakfast. Why aren't we attacking breakfast?

I really wasn't being serious....however, within the spectrum of mental illness a violent game can be an influence.....but it's not going to influence general society.

Are you stupid? Why would someone collect a statistic that wasn't balanced? It's per 100 000 people.

And even then, Japan is ~half our population while sitting at .3

The common factor for all of these massacres are a human, or humans, killing other humans.

At the same time we have developed quicker and more effecient ways of killing people on a grand scale. This extends beyond the United States obviously.

I wasn't just listing various events of violence.

I was listing key sources of aggression that are still present today. Many of them between races. The point is, violence is intrinistic with our culture as opposed to a country like Japan were just having tattoos are frowned upon. So violence in media is a byproduct of our aggressive culture, not the other way around.

U.S.'s aggressive culture encrouages violence in media.

Do seriously think, out of all the nations in history, the U.S. has been the most violent? Hell, let's say all nations since 1776. You still look like an ignorant fool.

No that's stupid. If they "encouraged" violence then none of them would sell. It's fvcking entertainment just like movies and music are and I'd wager there's MUCH worse stuff in both.

If someone is mentally unstable I think it [ALL forms of violent media] can influence them a bit. But for "normal" people? No, and it's silly to place the blame on it as if it does.

Yes, but only Super Mario, after playing I can't resist the urge to stop on innocent mushrooms and turtles. To be serious, no I have played violent games for a long time now, and I still sometime have trouble hurting a fly, and I would never own a gun.

The NRA just has to won up and face the fact that video games are not to blame for newtown, and frankly we really should not have to blame anyway besides the shooter, and I personally believe we need some for of gun control, why should anyway need an assault weopen or machine gun, you are not using them to hunt.

No. I play shooters, platformers, and fighting games all the time. You don't see me stocking up on guns, jumping on innocent bystanders, and street fighting with faux martial art. In fact, I have no guns in my house at all, never felt the reason to own one.

I saw a study that said they do between the ages of 14 and 16.

There's no reason to think otherwise outside that.

Now we just need to start it on every other board and maybe we'll be done asking this.
