Not really. The only class I felt was useful is English.

Hell no. High school prepares you to face peer pressure that won't be relevant the day after you graduate. All it is is just a social experiment designed to weed out teenagers by pressuring them into suicide.

I live in Quebec (Canada) and we have a pretty good system. Here once you finish high school in grade 11 you can go to CEGEP (baisicly a college) to either take a 3 year career course or a two year pre university course in multiple subjects. This allows for a smoother intro to university and for the students to start specialization in a field befor they get to university. I am currently taking a 2 year science program in CEGEP now and I could not imagine going straight from high school to university.

Also why cant be university/college be free? i mean if you cant pay for your education your an outkast in society and even if you do pay for it you'll still be in debt for a long time

I don't know about the US education system, but here in Australia I felt like I was fully prepared. I actually hated University because it was too easy and I felt like it was a waste. I should have done a harder course, because my friends doing engineering and science related subjects say the workload is like 12th grade hell all over again.

Right now I'm doing an apprenticeship, which is boring because the theory is too easy, but after I'm going to go get my engineering degree so hopefully it will be a lot more interesting then.

I took pretty much all gifted and AP classes so yeah I was prepared for college. Socially, nothing could really prepare you for college except college itself.

This is how I feel right now. Even though I'm not in college yet, some of my teachers seem to purposely try to pressure you into leaving school and/or developping some kinds of mental disorder. Hell, even one my teachers told us yesterday how he pressured a student into leaving and that his class would be better without him/her. Granted, I go to a very difficult and prestigious school, but to me that seems plain wrong.

Meh, some classes do, others do not I suppose. I don't like High school that much, so I'm hoping college will be much better (which I hear it usually is)

You guys got some jerks for teachers, but there are teachers like that in college too.

that sucks. the teachers at my school are good people. they always do whatver they can to motivate people (especially the failing ones) to do better.

Nope. However, it depends on where you live and what kind of school you attended. All I learned in high school is how to defend myself from others.

Actually, the teacher who was proud of making a student leave the school is the complete opposite: he motivates the good students and picks on the weaker ones.

but it's a good debt. The money you take out to get a education will more than pay off itself

No, not really. At school there was no emphasis on independent learning, which makes up a huge part of university.

For me yes, but I guess I went to a good high school.

Still hated it though...
