As soon as the movie ends, do you stay and watch the credits roll?

Along with 95% of other people in the same theater as me, we all leave as soon as the credits start rolling. It makes me wonder what is the point of including the credits if nobody really cares to watch them. Why not have print outs available out side the theater? if someone wants to see who was the assisted the director in pouring his coffee, they could see who.

I watch them most times as I may want to see who did a piece of music. Other times I like the gag scenes they play. They have to have credits due to union rules and yes, Hollywood is full of unions from the actors, directors, producers, gafs, key grips et al.

What's easier? Adding some credits to the end of a film reel or printing out millions of pamphlets no one is going to read that have to be distributed and disposed of?

Only if there's a clip during/after the credits such as an epilogue or sequel hook.

Depends who made the movie. Most of the time it's safe to leave. Some companies love to give neat blooper reals or special treats after the credits, so sometimes I'll stay.

I did for Skyline cause it was pretty awesome credits scene that carries on the film and goes into some sort of OTT comic book action extravaganza that makes you think "I want to watch that movie!"

Being in a films credit(by name) is tantamount to getting your credit on the project.

And the amount of display in the credits is proportional to the attached prestige.

If you spent hundreds of hours on a film project, even as a follow focus puller you expect to have your name forever engraved on the work.

If the movie left me with something to think about, yes.

If not, no.

Like another poster said union rules. Fun fact if the director didn't want to have opening credits in their film they would need to get an ok from everyone who would normally be featured in the opening credits. If one person wanted to have their name featured before the movie started then they would be contractually obliged to have opening credits.

Yes I stay. When watching a movie at home I always wait as well.

Besides, I don't have a car and the bus only comes once an hour. So if I leave I'll just be waiting at the bus stop. So I may as well stay and watch the credits.

Never, unless I've heard that there is a very cool post-credits scene.

I remember when my friends and I were early to Pirates of the Caribbean 4, and the lady said the post-credits scene was playing so we weren't allowed in. We waited through a shit-ton of credits to get a tiny bloody scene of absolutely no worth and we were pissed :P

The purpose of credits is to give movie makers their due credit. I used to choose to not watch credits, but I do now because I like to know who worked on films.

Yes, I do it all the time.

I like see if there's any names I know during the credit reel, and, of course, if there's any special clips after the credits themselves.

It's also fun to annoy the ushers that work there. You know, the ones who just wanna hurry up and get to cleaning, but have to stand there awkwardly to the side and wait for you to leave? ;)

Nope. Never. When the lights come back on, I'm out. Main reason: I can't sit comfortably in theaters seats for very long...
