Poll: Do you prefer a home cooked meal or eating out? (27 votes)

Home cooked 37%
Eating out 63%

I always prefer a home cooked meal. Nothing better than eating a good home cooked meal on a cold winter's night.

Can't cook for shit, sadly.

Eating out is expensive though, the price of soda is especially enraging.

Today some Indian takeout just old me a single can of diet cola for £1.50. Got mickey moused.

I enjoy eating out more, but not fast food. I like to get served.

love getting home from work, having a beer and cooking myself some dinner at the end of the day. great way to unwind

but in terms of food quality, eating out is where the best food is at

This really depends where you live and what you like to eat.

I used to eat in when I lived in the UK. I thought the variety was limited. I used to take turns with my fiancé.

But after moving to Hong Kong/China we eat out much more frequently.

Especially when we are in the mainland, we often eat out at least three to four times a week.

Sometimes every night because we are constantly being invited.

There is more of a eating out culture here and the variety is vast.

Imagine if 90% of all your bars and pubs shutdown and turned into restaurants! That’s what it’s like here.

Same. Cooking is enjoyable and rewarding. However, eating out at a decent restaurant is fantastic.

Eating out.

Cooking at home just doesn't taste as good as eating out.

I'm a good cook and I rarely if ever go to any fast food restaurants but if I do, it's always Chick-Fu-A.

Depends if you are talking about fast food/"fast casual", or a fine dining sit down restaurant. I never eat fast food or "fast casual" out. The food quality is horrible, it's overpriced, and often times is awful for your health. I much prefer a well cooked meal at home. If we're talking a nice sit down restaurant, then I prefer that over home cooked once and awhile.

Depends on the day. Sometimes I like to stay in and cook my pasta and try different sauces and meats and stuff. Sometimes I just want a nice bowl of Miso Ramen and some Gyoza.

Depends on how I'm feeling. If I'm lazy eating out is better but if I have the energy cooking a good meal is very rewarding.

When in the mood for really tasty food I usually prefer eating out or ordering. However, most of the time it's also unhealthy so I only do that a couple of times at most each week.

I'm a pretty good cook. I enjoy making elaborate meals that take all day and end up being way to much food.

I think I prefer eating out since it is less work.

A mix, like I enjoy cooking but sometimes I just feel like fast food or going out if I can't cook it.

The cooking is the best part. It's the cleaning that stops me.

Eating out by which I mean fast food, not eating on a fancy restaurant.

It has the best of both worlds: I don't have to cook it and there's no people around me.

Home cooked, by myself or my family.

I am fortunate enough to have some really good home cooks in my family (my mom, namely, but also my sister and cousin) and to have worked as a chef myself.

Eating out, food-wise, is generally a disappointment. It would have to be some really high-end grub to justify paying someone else to cook my food.

When I do eat out, I just tell myself "Hey it's about the service, not the food" and that allows me to not regret paying the money.

Usually when I eat out, it's a guilty pleasure like fast food or pizza, or a cuisine I don't ordinarily cook at home (such as Mexican, Chinese, etc).

I learned two important things a long time ago:

1. Prepare what you can ahead of time, or mis en place.

2. Do your dishes as you go. Wipe the counter when it get's messy.
