I do. Pink Floyd and King Crimson are my favorite progressive rock bands.

Speaking of classic prog bands... anyone here like Emerson, Lake, and Palmer?HereticGamer911
I'm a big fan of ELP. Their first album is unreal.
And yeah, King Crimson is pretty insane, too. Court of the Crimson King is definitely a top 5'er
Both are good, but the best progressive band of all time imo, is Toolthecityx
To each his own. I love King Crimson, but my favorite prog ROCK band is Jethro Tull. Prog metal is a different matter, though...
Recommend me an album Juggernaut140
Red, In The Court of The Crimson King, Lark's Tongue In Aspic, and Discipline are all good ones. Start with ITCTCK.
I listened to Epitaph which I thought was alright and 21st Century Schizoid Man which I thought was complete garbage.
I like King Crimson, but my favourite prog rock band is definately YES, although I'll only listen to YES albums up to the Relayer album. I'm almost suprised to see prog being discussed on this site though, I've been a member for over a year and this is the first topic about prog I've seen yet
Of course.
Van Der Graaf Generator, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Wishbone Ash...all of them inspired some of my favorite artists.
King Crimson are alright, some good tracks and superior musicianship, but it's their fans that put me off. Some of them I know like King Crimson just for the intellectual appeal, and it's this pretention that puts me off.

i do not know who that is, ghoklebutter, so i cannot make a valid judgement at this moment/point in time. it would be great if i was xplained to me who he is, but it sounds like a singer!! of some kind.TheBurgerKing96
It's a rock band from the 70s and 80s.
Discipline was a great album, Indiscipline is one of my favorite songs ever.

Really? I know your the Prog rock guy of these forums guppy but ive been a long time Tool fan (since 95) and I always classified them as more of "art rock" Thats rather interesting though.Yeah it is. What this person said I didnt know Tool was progressive at all... Well, some of their stuff is. They really hit their "progressive apex" on Lateralus. Both Undertow and Aenima weren't too progressive, and even on Lateralus it's only just touching the genre really. Other progressive (rock) bands like Porcupine Tree and Frost* are much better at that particular styIe.[QUOTE="Swanogt19"][QUOTE="thecityx"]Both are good, but the best progressive band of all time imo, is Toolmexicangordo

Their lyrics never came across to me in that way before.[QUOTE="Swanogt19"] What this person saidSaturos3091

Dredg is another band that can go either way. Tool could also be considered metal. Genre classification is difficult. :P

I agree that their earlier stuff does flirt with the more artistic side of things while still following traditional rock structures rather than progressive ones. I guess it's just that the terms are interchangeable that makes those albums "progressive."[QUOTE="Saturos3091"] Well, some of their stuff is. They really hit their "progressive apex" on Lateralus. Here's a good definition. Dredg doesn't really have much progressive about them, but they're classified as crossover prog at progarchives....
