I have a bad habit of purchasing those premade squares of cookie dough and eating them all before I actually cook them. The package says not to do this, so I am trying to figure out if I am probably going to die if i keep it up.

Yes, you almost certainly are going to die. I don't think laying off the cookie dough will change that, though it may affect the date when it happens

not so much anymore. eggs are pretty much pasteurized to the point where the chances of salmonella via a raw egg are 1 in 1000

That does not sound that unlikely considering I've probably eaten a thousand in the last year.

haha yea

its just likely enough to warrant a "do not eat raw" warning, but realistically its very unlikely.

besides, salmonella for a person our age isnt a big deal. It'd likely just be thought of as food poisoning, and over with in a few days.

Lol then the chances of a 550 million+ eggs infected with salmonella must be pretty slim :P

No... if people could get sick from it, why do Ben & Jerry's have ice cream with it in?

I believe the primary reason they say not to eat raw cookie dough is because it contains raw eggs. You technically CAN get salmonella poisoning and die. But the chances of getting sick are extremely low.

Sylvester Stallone eats a dozen raw eggs for breakfast every day and he's never gotten sick.

And some people eat raw oysters and never get sick. Doesn't mean it can't happen.

Like I said, the chances of it happening are extremely low.

you'll only get sick if the stuff inside spoils, or if there's salmonella (i think it is) in the eggs. you won't die from it regardless, but you could throw up or get the runs pretty bad if you get bad bacteria in you.
