I have to look into this for some science project, and I am somewhat disturbed at what I have found. I'm not saying that I really believe that it was faked, but there is alot of evidence pointing in that direction. I really want to believe that we did go thee, but I don't know if I can. There are alot of interestingpoints about this whole debate, such as the fact that all the pictures the astronauts took would have been impossible to accomplish with their timeframe, or that in order to survive the radiation from the sun, you would need a 2 metre thick barrier on the space capsule in order not to get fried. I haven't quite made up my opinion yet, but I wonder where other people stand on this. Thoughts?

There's a reason we've never gone back to the Moon.

sorry, just had too! :P

according to Theokhoth, who has probably gone further than any of us to prove this rumor false, for proof all you have to do is look at the dust and have a healthy knowledge of physics to know that it can't possibly have been faked.

you would think if there was any real evidence that it was fake, the soviets would have been jumping all over it.
Actually no, I don't think it was faked. I bet they wish they faked it though, there's nothing too interesting happening there.
And you have seen this reflector?

I haven't, but plenty of scientists have used high powered lasers pointed at the reflector to determine the distance between the moon and the earth.

I did a lot of reading up on the technology used to get to the moon and I must say that I wholeheartedly agree that we did land on the moon. The only reason why we havent done it again is lack of funding and public interest. You do realise that there have been something like 7 moon landings right?

As much as they do their homework on making believable theories or twisting words or taking articles out of context to make there conspiracy seem real or truth, it is not fake. Take the time a read this... http://science1.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2001/ast23feb_2/ by the way...didn't they leave a flag on the moon? Shouldn't we see it with amateur telescopes? Granted the flag is either bleached white now....also....didn't we land there 6 times? Apollo 11,12,14,15, 16 and 17...all trips to the moon and setting foot on the moon.

This one's right up there with young-Earth creationism. There would have to be a vast conspiracy amongst the scientific community for this to have happened and be perpetuated to this day. That seems unlikely.

Yes, and here's the video once again. The dust is kicked up much higher than it would have gone on Earth, consistent with a lesser gravitational pull, but then falls back in a perfectly parabolic trajectory, consistent with gravitational acceleration in a vacuum. Until those who wish to maintain that we didn't go to the moon can explain this, they have no case.

While not going to the moon, the Apollo Program did produce a time machine, which we used to travel to the mid 90s, where Industrial Light and Magic prepared the moon video(s) using state of the art computer technology.

No. Sometimes when you do something so incredible, people just can't accept it. So conspiracy theories are born. Also they tend to center around poor understanding of science.

NASA has a place that has the same gravitational pull as the moon? Somebody will think of something.

You know, people go on and on about this, but it doesn't particularly bother me one way or another. Even as a man who seeks knowledge as much as possible, it seems to me a rather extraneous detail with no practical effect upon my person, one way or another.

I guess it depends how old the person is. This could just be a research project, that is, the subject of the assignment is "How do research" and not the actual Moon landing. I suppose then you might argue that there are more informative things to research while learing how to do research.

No. It was real.

Why would they have faked it? NASA had already built massive rockets capable of going into space, and they had landing craft capable of touching down on the moon. So rather than hiring a professional film crew and spending millions of dollars paying the thousands of people involved in such a huge conspiracy to keep quiet, and then expect them all to keep to their word... Why not just go to the moon?

but if we faked it we would not have all of the byproducts from our actual space programs.
