Do you feel everyone should have the right to own a gun and do whatever they want with it or the world should be stripped off guns and leave everyone defenseless ?

I don't think decent regulation on who buys what is much to ask for, but I'm not against gun ownership per se. The American gun culture is a bit silly, though.

Mixed feelings. We definitely should require solid background checks for people to buy guns, and we shouldn't let people by things like automatic weapons, but other than that I don't feel like we should be regulating guns much.

I should be allowed firearms. I should be allowed to protect my home, my family and my property. I should be allowed to ask people to leave my property and if someone threatens me or my family I should be allowed to shoot them dead. Basically yeah, people don't want to come stumbling across my land unannounced if they have bad intentions. Obviously that doesn't mean you just shoot someone, but if your in danger then you should have every right to defend yourself. Where I live everyone have guns. People hunt and shoot for fun. Nothing wrong with it, of course safety is extremely important. If you have kids you don't just leave guns laying around and the people using them should always have safety in mind to avoid any chance of accidents. There is that saying, guns don't hurt people, people do. It's never the guns fault, only the operators.

I think if you buy a gun you should be able to carry it in your car without a permit

Even if guns are banned permanently there will still be murders and what not. Plus that will only leave guns in the hands of criminals and government.....not ok.

Im for maximum gun freedom. If a criminal wants a gun, they will get one regardless of the law. The law only deters law abiding citizens from ownership

I'm fine with people owning guns for hunting and home protection but beyond that I'm much less ok with them.

I'd like it so that some mentally ill person or a prior felon can't just walk in and buy a gun. I think there are laws against that, but they dont always work.

Organized crime, yes. Individual crime, that argument isn't that strong.

I don't like guns, but I accept people like them and in some areas they have the right to own them, so I just avoid those places.

Regulations should certainly be applied to gun ownership. While there are those that use guns simply as a means of self-defense, many, and I mean many, abuse these priveleges. (See here) Despite the background checks and registration that purchasers require, there are often times when firearms fall into the wrong hands. Granted, not all crimes would be prevented, but applying these restrictions would likely prevent many possible scenarios.

What tickles me are all the people who say "no assault rifles", when according to the FBI rifles accounted for something like 3% of all homicides in 2011.

The only people who suffer from strict gun laws are lawful owners so yes I am in favour of loose gun laws.

Though I am all in favour of background checks and other basic regulation.

If we could destroy all guns, then I'd be for a complete ban. Since we can't though, just do the backround checks and don't let people own explosives or incendiary rounds and it should be all right. I live in TX and I avoid all confrontation because I'm a 6' 5" black guy and if they think I'm aggresive in anyway I know I'll be gunned down by some "good ole boy".

It's hard to say, on one hand outright restrict guns so much that you've practically banned them is just downright stupid but loosen them too much and...well, I don't know...but it probably wouldn't be very good.

Dang you 'Murica. You and your crazy gun shenanigans.

Yes, of course. Anyone responsible enough to buy a gun won't mind have a check on them, etc.

I think we should be pragmatic regarding them. I don't really like to think in terms of a spectrum regarding this issue.
