Do you engage in habitual behavior that causes others to perceive you as mentally ill or socially awkward? I do.

  • I often day-dream at work, and in the midst of doing so, I'll laugh or smile to myself. When my co-workers catch me doing this, they ask me what I'm smiling and/ or laughing about and exclaim that I'm crazy or express concern for my mental well-being.
  • It takes a while for me to warm up to people when I join a new community (e.g. school, work, etc), so I wind up warming up to only those I'm exposed to the most, such as the people at my job whom I work with directly. I'm quiet and distant to others, whom I don't work with so often, so when they greet me, I often don't respond; I'll just walk by as if I didn't even hear them. So, they conclude that I'm an asshole.
  • I intentionally annoy people for my own amusement. For example, I'll stand over one of my co-workers while they're seated at a desk working. They'll look up to me and ask whether I want something, and I'll either say nothing or I'll say "nothing." They then resume what they were doing, and I continue to stand there. They eventually become irate and explode, resulting in me laughing hysterically. Sometimes I'll walk up to them and rummage through their paperwork, disorganizing it in the process.

I have a habit of thinking f comedy skits, and I'll laugh randomly.

I also used my blue tooth the other while walking, and this chick gave me a funny look.

Considering the things you say on this board, I'm not surprised that people wonder about your mental status

Sometimes. I bob my head a lot when I listen to music regardless of location. I could be home, on the bus, at a friends house, and even on the toilet. In privacy, I'll "dance" to music. If I get bored I start dancing to whatever I'm listening to. If it's rap, I'll go up to a mirror and act like a rapper or if it's rock or metal, I'll just head bang and jump around. I only do these for a few seconds though and don't know why I do it lol. Being alone at home for most of the day, ever day gives me the perfect reason to be a complete dork.

Smiling to myself, and taking time to warm up to people. Also if I see someone I know, I act all awkward.

Didn't know that taking time to warm up to people was considered acting crazy. People must think I'm certifiable.

No, but I recently got diagnosed with OCD, depression, and generalized anxiety disorder. Everything in my life was going great, then out of nowhere one day I didn't feel right, and have been struggling even since. Started when I was 20.

I wash my hands after touching anything someone else has touched. I've been in public bathrooms, I know most people don't wash their hands after anything.

And what's this deal with people coughing on their hands? Cough in your fucking elbow, fucktards.

I've had meds prescribed to me before, but I didn't take them for very long because of the side effects. Besides, I think most mental illnesses (not all) aren't actually illnesses, but are simply behavioral types that society deems as abnormal and needing of correction.

How has these diagnoses affected your life? Are you socially impaired? Do you have friends and/ or an intimate partner? Do you enjoy eating bagels?

I don't get why people think its weird if you are smiling. I don't know I'm doing sometimes and people ask me what I'm happy about. I just say its better to be like this than the opposite and that shuts them up.

I would think violently punching the side of my skull would be the most common point of concern. In the old days it was more about my Robin Williams like non-stop random chatter...but things change I suppose.

Let's just say that "I dare you to..." is the worst thing someone can ask me to do.

The first two are pretty normal... but that last one is creepy and annoying... I'd be temped to punch you in the face if you did that to me.
