Do you all agree TOM CRUISE is Hollywood's NO 1 actor?

From romantic Hero to Villain this man does everything so perfect.Looks,personality wise still no actor goes above him.

Fav movies Days of thunder, Mission Impossible II, Collateral, Tropic Thunder and Edge of tommorow.Cant w8 for Maverick.

Not my favorite actor, but still proud to say he's from my generation. My generation, between Boomers and GenX, is called Generation Jones (which should be a 5 year generation like Xennials for those born 1960-1964, not 1955-1964 as some say) and produced a staggering number of famous people like Cruise, Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeves, Lawrence Fishbourne, Johnny Depp, Rob Lowe, Nicholas Cage, Sandra Bullock, Russel Crowe, Eddie Murphy, Quentin Tarantino, Sean Penn, James Spader, Colin Firth, George Clooney, Woody Harrelson, Forrest Whitaker, Barrack Obama, Jeff Bezos, Michael Jordon (basketball), Jerry Rice (American football), Jim Carrey, Demi Moore, Ally Sheedy, Bob Odenkirk (Saul!).

And then theres the music, we were the original punk-rock generation, so we had a lot of people born in our generation that had a significant impact on music, including Henry Rollins of Black Flag, Keith Morris of Circle Jerks, Vince Neil and Tommy Lee of Motley Crue, Chris Cornell of Soungarden, all members of U2, Michael Stipe and the rest of REM, Axl Rose of Guns and Roses, James Hetfield and others from Mettalica, Dave Mustaine and others from Megadeth, Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, Courtney Love of Hole (Kurt was GenX though) and so on, all in a 5 year birth period! We had Baby Boomer birth numbers but we weren't like them, we couldn't remember JFK's assasination, we were mostly born when he was president! Not exactly GenX either, though we shared MTV, old-school video games, and the "Brat Pack" with them. But we were not quite latch-key kids of GenX yet.

But you could look just in his generation and see competition for those statements from Pitt, Reeves, Rob Lowe, and Depp at least. Looks and personality-wise that is, but Cruise is probably the best actor of that bunch.

I wouldn't call him the no 1 actor but he's one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) Hollywood stars. And he's been doing that for decades.

Of all time? No. I'd give that to Jack Nicholson or Robert Deniro.

Collateral was nice, but it would have been better with a different actor.

Edge of Tomorrow was nice, but it would have been better with a different actor.

Rain Man was very nice, but he, thankfully, wasn't the star of it.

As in the #1 in term of Box office? Yeah, I think so.

In terms of acting? No (and yet he is a capable actor).

Like him or not the guy is a true superstar.

I would say Hollywood's number one living actor is Kirk Douglas.

My favorite of his movies is probably Ace in the Hole.

He's in some good movies. I don't generally follow the actors. I watch movies I'm interested in.

It seems Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt are the only actors that consistently have huge hits every year. They have also been relevant my entire life and I'm in my late 30's.

So in terms of relevance I'd say probably him or Brad Pitt.

As far as my personal favorites I'd have to go with Christian Bale or Daniel Day-Lewis.

Tom Cruise is a crazy ****, I'll give him that. I would otherwise never put "favorite actors" and "Tom Cruise" in the same sentence.

I’ve enjoyed many of his films, I’d consider him to be one of (if not) Hollywood’s most bankable stars, and he's definitely got some acting chops if he puts effort into it (Born on the 4th), but in terms of who he is he’s kind of an obnoxious doofus. His view on mental illness is particularly appallingly ignorant and harmful, but then again, he's a Scientologist so what's to be expected.

Don't think he's a great actor but his dedication is admirable when it comes to MI, he clearly has a passion for them.

I certainly consider him a legend. Mission Impossible was epic af.

Thing is, I don't take the personal stuff with their career. Half the musicians I adore, I know I'd hate in real life and could never live with them, but doesn't stop me from enjoying their music. So even if Tom is trapped in the closet, or raped by Steven and George, I'd certainly put him in Top 10 active.

Rock has sort of become the top guy, I think he's the most dominant as far as Box Office bucks.

A competent actor that's very good at picking scripts. And that's half the battle.

I honestly believe he gives every movie his very best.

in terms of talent? no. in terms of being in a shitload of huge movies throughout his career? heck year.

I think you're a Gen X.

For a long time we were often lumped in with Boomers, but in recent times Generation X, when they realized you can't just lump us in with Boomers because we have a larger birth rate than people in Generation X. But we always knew we weren't Boomers....hippies, Vietnam, Woodstock, the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, the 60's asasinations, just kids when those things were happening, saw them on the news, didn't experience them. A friend of the family, a full-bird colonel, came back on leave from Vietnam and I remember wondering all day whether I was going to war when I got older, I was only in 3rd grade. I always wanted to be a hippie, had that live and let live mentality, but that movement died with the end of Vietnam. We were represented by shows like Freaks and Geeks and That 70's show, and pretty much any time Tarantino pulls out his 70's icons. Pam Grier in Jackie Brown? Hell yeah, I remember her in the day! I get what he's doing, we are about the same age. Looks like this next movie will have major 70's stuff, even someone playing Bruce Lee, my first hero back in the day.

We were right between the 2, and Boomers and GenX didn't have much in common, so we were the group that was right smack in the middle (or leading edge) of the seismic shift to computers, video games (we were the perfect age for Pong haha, I got that for Christmas at 16), original Star Wars movies on release and new wave/punk/post-punk/alternative music. We are a little different than both because we grew up with the high hopes of the boomers (something GenX didn't) but saw them take all the jobs once we finally got there, so we had to be more resourceful and competitive, probably why we have so many that did so well. We had the love of Led Zep and Pink Floyd in common with Boomers, but also a love of groups like REM and Metallica (I loved Nirvana also but that was later) in common with GenX. Of course not everyone in those generations love those bands, point is we had things in common with both but not quite a perfect fit to either. I feel close to both Boomers and GenX and of course our own niche. We are kind of the same zone as Xennials would be between next 2 generations.

It's about high school kids circa 1981 or so, it's only played by Millennials. It's not too far off the mark in terms of accuracy, great show, worth watching. A lot of big names got their start there, and it was nice seeing Martin Starr (Bill) in the latest Spider-Man movie as the teacher.

I think Hollywood has somewhat distanced themselves from Tom Cruise, though yes he is the last of the Movie Star breed.

Will Smith perhaps, too, but not so much anymore.

He's a good actor and has been brilliant in the MI series. I prefer Denzel Washington myself. Man on Fire is my fav of his..

I don't like Tom Cruise and in my opinion his roles are mostly the same. He performs well, but I think there is a lack of variety. For example, Johnny Depp- from Edward Scissorhands to John Dillinger and each time it's outstanding! Leonardo Dicaprio - has a huge variety of roles and each time you believe him 100%. No ofense, Tom Cruise fans, it's only my opinion.

Gotta respect the man for the passion he has for his craft. Not the best, but certainly one of the most prominent.

The Last Samurai is very good.

He really is one of the all-time best. A good "jack of all trades" actor that flirts with excellence, but is generally outdone in more specific departments by more specifically-tasked actors.

Tom Cruise is definitely one of the best actors to watch, though, not only does he do a good job, but he generally picks great projects to boot.

Every so often he gets a real gem that takes him to another level, and it's great. For me that movie was Collateral. He was so menacing, so calm, such a great character in that.

I think his best work is the Mission Impossible series. Outside of MI 2, each one of those movies is a masterpiece of action, drama, comedy, and so forth. It's the whole package.

Yeah that's a good way to describe it. He is definitely one of the last remaining, still somewhat young and cool, actors that can bring people in. I mean really outside of the whole Scientology thing (of which he is as much a victim as anyone) the dude seems like he has lived a pretty good life.
