Been watching clips on YouTube the last couple of days. I forgot how much this show used to make me chuckle. Never was into SNL.

Yes! Unlike the spineless guys at SNL, MadTV actually had an edge to them.

I watched some of it here and there and found some of it kind of funny. Most of the time though it just felt a bit too “tryhard” for me. I always preferred SNL myself.

Loved it back in the day, but can recognize that a lot of it didn't age well.

Yep I watched a lot of Mad TV when I was younger. I watched it over SNL. Honestly SNL has become too political and agenda-driven it's kinda pathetic where they have gone.

Some of my favorites on Mad TV were the Spishak infomercials:

And of course Stuart.

Loved for reasons already stated. Keegan, Peele, Michael McDonald and Bobby Lee were my favorite cast members. But everyone was pretty damn funny to me.

I thought it started out pretty bad, got great around season 2, was better than SNL for a while, and then went on about 5 years longer than it should have.

No, never.

It was gross, immature, and dumb. The actors were no good, and the writing terrible. IMO Mad TV is what happens when people who got too much praise in drama class and then got out into the real world and were told they suck get together, write a bunch of stuff any asshole could write, and then act it out to the same caliber of talent they had in high school.

I am an SNL man through and through. People like to complain about SNL having "good times" and "bad times" but at least they can say they have good times. Mad TV is just bad almost all the time.

In Living Color also had its moments.

I remember it being on very late here at like 2am. It was either a hit or miss. My fav was the guy who acted like a kid.

I really enjoyed it until their later seasons when they lost a bunch of their roster and it became Bobby Lee and Friends.

MadTV was a cool alternative. Not sure if they had the quality that SNL did (and even SNL had its peaks and luls), but they definitely pushed the boundaries and had some funny moments. I am not a superfan of MadTV, but it seems like they struggled for new skits and characters at times. But I can't blame them with SNL having how many times the budget MadTV had.

If you liked 90's comedy, MadTV definitely should be checked out as well as In Living Color.
