The other day I saw this blind person at the bus stop with a black lab guide dog. She was messing about with the dog. The path is quite narrow so said excuse me. She looked up and said sorry I was just teaching dog to put pour out when bus comes. I was like wow ok hehe. I didn't no how blind she was but looked quite blind as how her eyes where if you no what I mean. Any way I then asked if she wanted me to stay while right bus came. She said no thanks any way. When I got home I thought was that a stupid question.

I no some people might think. I'm not an invalid. When asking some one if they need help. So did I ask the right question or should I have just walked on?.

You offered to help and she declined, no harm done in asking.

Most people can differentiate between a genuine offer of help and being patronizing.

That was nice, and you did the right thing. You never know these days. Some users at BART dop like getting assistance up the escalator, others do not. Its a 50/50 chance. No harm done, like others said. Yesterday a guy in a wheel chair came in and he seemed like he needed assistance, someone like you asked if he needed help. In the middle of him asking, the guy in the wheel chair yelled and said move, and the guy never even got to finish asking. Then as the man in the wheel chair was exiting the train, he said thank you to the young man. Honestly, i don't ask any more. Just like i don't give change to the people outside my job that beg for change. I offered them food, and they threw it on the sidewalk more then once. I'm done helping the disrespectful. If i give, i will give through charity.
