America's favorite meticulous serial killer Dexter Morgan is making his return in 2021 with a limited series of 10 episodes on Showtime. Michael C. Hall returns to reprise his (in)famous role.Hall joins original series' showrunner Clyde Phillips, who wrote and produced during all eight seasons that premiered on Showtime in 2006.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this, especially since the original showrunner is helming the project. I hadn't realized I actually miss Dexter.

This can be good...I wonder if it's going to pick up right after the end of the 8th season, or some time later.

The ending was pretty depressing but very final imo.

I feel the same way.

Even after the relatively poor last season, it's still one of my favorite shows.

I'm for it. The last season sucked big time so it's doubtful they could go any lower. Not sure what they'll do without the supporting cast of the earlier seasons, which also made the show so good. Try and introduce new ones for us to get used to and care about, or find a way to get Dexter to reconnect with his old pals? What also made the show so good was how Dexter had to balance his dual lifestyles, which made the show tense (in a good way). Actually, I don't know how I feel about this.

IMO the first season of Dexter is some of the best television in history not the best but damn good especially back in 2006. The show jumped the shark for sure but hopefully it can redeem itself looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

Never watched it. Kept reading that it becomes lousy. Tempted to rewatch Six Feet Under after I'm done rewatching The X-Files. Wish they'd release it on Blu-ray.

I'm not going to say I am not interested, but I do hope they don't do that "new writer per episode" thing they did on some of the seasons. You'd have a plotline going somewhere, then the next writer would undo it and start something new... then the next writer would do the same thing... and eventually the season would almost run out of time to finish its overarching theme. Season 3 was a particularly awful example of this.

They need to go back to a more cohesive plot by a single writer or a collab in advance. Otherwise I won't be able to watch it.

Was thinking about a different Dexter when I saw this and got jittery with excitement.

There was talks about a possible remake but Cartoon Network just forgot about it and hasn't been heard since.
