Which '98 Asteroid flick is your favorite?
For me, its Deep Impact- Armageddon doesn't really approach the emotional resonance of that film. I liked the approach of showing a realistic portrayl of what would happen in the case of a potential mass extinction event rather than Armageddon's slightly more ADD angle...

I liked Deep Impact only for the final scene. The impact and tsunami were amazing. I found the story between the father and daughter to be quite upsetting aswell. Meh.

Armageddon was epic.

Deep Impact is extremely forgettable and bland - except for the impact.

Deep Impact. I don't really like the "the wrong stuff" attitude taken with Armegeddon or Harry's attitude towards his daughter's lover. That totally messed up the movie for me.

Deep Impact. It was much more believable and less "Hollywood."

I strongly disliked both of them, but if I had to choose I'd take Armageddon simply because of Steve Buscemi climbing into a turret and threatening to take on an asteroid by himself.

Obviously Deep Impact. Armageddon gives me a huge headache, the film is horribly shot. The science in Armageddon is hilariously bad, Deep Impact is much more realistic. Armageddon is less intelligent (Why is Bruce Willis shooting at one of his workers with a shotgun while on his own oil rig), it tries to be dramatic, but the result is incredibly boring. Deep Impact has some good performances and characters though.

Apples and Oranges from the same tree if you ask me.......yes I'm aware that rhymed not intentionally I assure you. lol But I loved both films for different reasons. If you want an over the top telling of what we would do in the event of a E.L.E. then Armageddon is your flick. But if you want a smarter, calmer and IMHO more realistic version of said event then Deep Impact excels there. Again just my lil' ol' opinion. :P

Neither, because each film's junk science makes them unwatchable for me. And before anyone says that most films are like that, I think a film that pretends to be real should also conform to some form of decency in at least physics and chemistry.

The dragon was the coat of arms of the Republic of Vietnam and its predecessor states. I didn't choose this sig just because it looks nice though.

No, but I am very interested in Vietnam's recent history. It's a damn shame I think, the communist regime, and what ended up happening to South Vietnam. Got to keep it alive somehow. That's the way I view it at least.

Agreed, I don't even get started on that topic cause I'll start smoking at the ears. lol

I preferred Deep Impact. I hate the obvious love stories and endings in films like Armageddon.

I thought Deep Impact was terrible. Armageddon gets my vote.
