VileEffigy
the correct answer is:
"I do not like Metallica...I hate Metallica....I hate Metallcia because theyre against piracy...etc, etc"
Despite your feelings toward them, Metallica does not suck. They are one of the greatest groups in the history of music.

Because Metallica are one of the best bands in history.Shame on you people saying that Metallica's earliest albums are crap. Master of Puppets definitely is one of the best thrash albums ever, regardless of what anyone on here says. If you dislike thrash metal, then obviously you won't like Metallica. You should not be judging the quality of Metallica's music if you don't like the genre in the first place.
I can't imagine anyone who knows anything about thrash metal or who even likes the genre at all denouncing Metallica like some of the people in this thread have.
As for Death Magnetic, I'm excited for its release, and I'll be picking it up as soon as it comes out. Obviously I'm not expecting the album to be up to par with Puppets, Kill 'em All, Lightning, or Justice, but I do expect a significant improvement over St. Anger. I'm looking forward to hearing some new Metallica again.

No band or music is for everyone. You may think that Metallica is overrated, but to say they suck is going a bit far. Their musical talent is undeniable in their first four albums. There is a lot of music that I don't like, but I can still recognize musical talent. Now I'm not going to continue arguing over such a trivial matter...
Metallica has been a complete joke since Ride the Lightning.

MoP was good, AJFA was ok...but The Black Album is when they really started to go downhill
I never really understood the hate against the Load album.. I mean, let's face it: Ride the Lighting, MoP and Justice were very similar in structure and could be compared song by song. Because the quality of the songs remained really high that wasn't really too big of a deal.
However, I can understanda band evolving (not necessarily selling out) by changing direction. Although I don't think the Black Album can come close to any of the 3 (never really listened to Kill'em all) prior albums it was a major change and was kinda fresh. I even think the much hated 'Load' is a better album than the Black Album, featuring a lot more variety, maturing and above all some really good songs.Though songs like Bleeding me are different I think they're great. Even Outlaw Torn, which annoys me on the album due to the vocals, is a perfect song on the S&M discs.
But now after St. Anger, we get an album which mimics the exact structure of the RtL, MoP and Justice albums... Number 4 is again the ballad, we also have the instrumental etc. etc.. However, the quality of the songs I've heard untill now can't come close to the ones it tries to mimic. To mention a few:
The Day that never comes; I love the beginning (an exact Fade to Black clone) and think it is great, I like the riff and even the vocals. But then it makes the stupid decision to try and copy-paste the FtB/One structure entirely by adding the very repetitive 'This I swear' part and an instrumental second half that doesn't really improve the song in any way.
Suicide&Red.; (must say that I didn't hear the entire song yet, so review is not really valid) the instrumentals Orion and To Live is to Die are probably my favourite Metallica songs.. Unfortunately, this instrumental doesn't do it for me.. I miss the melodious feel of the old ones (Call included)....
My apocalypse; it's heavy, but songs like MoP , RtL and Blackened (and even Justice) were more than just heavy...
Thing is, all the Load haters were/are expecting Death Magnetic to be the 'return' of Metallica. The proof that they redeemed themselves and are no longer 'sell-outs'. That they left that commercial 'crap' and are back for good...
Maybe we should turn that argument around... just maybe 'Death Magnetic' is a way of turning away from their own creative ideas and direction they've taken. Maybe this album really is a sign that they're 'selling-out' by providing fan-service to the max...?? I don't know.. but I guess we'll have to wait and see...
I'm just stating my opinion so don't bash me for that please..

I never meant that they are bad talent wise. I can see that they play guitar great and all but I just don't like the songs they make.
